  2. HUMAN RIGHT OR SOMETHING NICE? BEING BORN IN A HOSPITAL HAVING YOUR BIRTH REGISTERED

  3. HUMAN RIGHT FACT: MY HUMAN RIGHTS HAVING YOUR BIRTH REGISTERED All children have the right to have their birth registered, to be given a name and also a nationality (Article 7). Whilst being born in a hospital might be nice, it is by no means a human right. In the UK 98% of births take place in a hospital.

  4. HUMAN RIGHT OR SOMETHING NICE? ACCESS TO THEIR GRANDPARENTS ACCESS TO THEIR PARENTS

HUMAN RIGHT FACT: MY HUMAN RIGHTS ACCESS TO THEIR PARENTS Children must not be separated from their parents against their will unless it is in their best interests (i.e. if a parent is neglecting a child). Children whose parents have separated have the right to stay in contact with both parents.

  6. HUMAN RIGHT OR SOMETHING NICE? PLAY AND HAVE FRIENDS WARM AND CLEAN CLOTHES

  7. HUMAN RIGHT FACT: MY HUMAN RIGHTS PLAY AND HAVE FRIENDS Every child has the right to relax and play. This is an important part of their development. There are currently no specific requirements for clothes to be clean and warm, however every child does have the right to an adequate standard of living.

  8. HUMAN RIGHT OR SOMETHING NICE? ABILITY TO EARN MONEY FROM AGED 12 FREEDOM TO PRACTISE A RELIGION

  9. HUMAN RIGHT FACT: MY HUMAN RIGHTS FREEDOM TO PRACTISE A RELIGION Article 14 covers the rights of a child to the freedom of thought, belief and religion. Every child has the right to think and believe what they choose and also to practise their religion, as long as they are not stopping other people from enjoying their rights

  10. HUMAN RIGHT OR SOMETHING NICE? CHILDREN OVER 15 TO HAVE THEIR OWN BEDROOM CHILDREN UNDER 15 TO NOT FIGHT IN WAR OR JOIN THE ARMY

  11. HUMAN RIGHT FACT: MY HUMAN RIGHTS CHILDREN UNDER 15 TO NOT FIGHT IN WAR OR JOIN THE ARMY Governments must not allow children under the age of 15 to take part in war or join the armed forces. Governments must do everything they can to protect and care for children affected by war and armed conflicts. (Article 38)

  12. HUMAN RIGHT OR SOMETHING NICE? FREE EDUCATION TO THE AGE OF 16 ACCESS TO NEWS AND INFORMATION

  13. HUMAN RIGHT FACT: MY HUMAN RIGHTS ACCESS TO NEWS AND INFORMATION Every child has the right to reliable information and governments should encourage the media to provide information that children can understand. Governments MUST provide free primary education, but they don t currently have to provide free secondary education (aged 11+), although many do.
