Team Declarations: 1. Platinum (Highest level of competition) - Perfect for programs that have multiple teams in the same age conference. Larger/established programs should make every effort to be in this division. Note: We would like to see more programs in this division especially for the 14u age group as this group will be playing JV/Varsity lacrosse for their schools in the next year and need to adjust with playing the highest level of lacrosse. 2. Gold Division (Competitive/Developmental) Perfect for programs that have either 1 team in the conference and/or programs that have multiple teams in the same conference, but are not quite ready to compete in the Platinum Division. Programs with multiple teams, should not place their Lower team in this division, unless you feel they can compete with some programs Top teams. 3. Silver Division (Competitive/Developmental) Perfect for programs that have multiple teams in the same conference with their higher team being in Platinum or Gold. 4. Bronze Division (Recreational) Perfect for programs with the majority of their players beginner/inexperienced. Please remember: WPYLA will review all team declarations and may move teams to other divisions as appropriate. If you have any questions about team divisions or are not sure where to place your teams, please reach out to us. WPYLA wants to be a partner in these decisions, so reach out if you are not sure where to place your teams or if you need further guidance.
Team Rostering Call up Players Changes from last year For teams that have multiple teams in an age group, we have eliminated the roster requirement that you have to have equal or more players on the higher team. We have removed bubble players and emergency players . We will now use the verbiage of Call Up Players . Example: Call up players could be a player from 12U Silver being called up to play in a 12U Platinum game or a 10u player being called up to play in a 12u Silver game. No player can be forced to Play up unless parental consent is given. Example 12u player can t be mandated to play on a 14u team. Officials will be completing Roster Checks this year so there is no getting around it! Roster Checks will be completed by request prior to the start of the game Roster Checks will be completed by request of one of the coaches. Both Coaches DO NOT need to agree to do them. If one coach requests it, then it is mandatory to complete. Fines and suspensions will be given to players/programs if they are found to be breaking WPYLA rules.
Team Rostering Call up Players/Roster Max 2025 Rostering Each Team will have a MAX Roster # . This number will be different for each team and will be determined by the roster you submit prior to the season. Players can NOT play down, but players can play up. Minimum players on the submitted roster will be 17 players per team. This avoids programs from stacking rosters in the lower division. Max Roster Numbers Programs that submit 17 to 20 players on their roster max roster size on game day will be 20 players. Programs that submit 21 or more players on their roster max roster size will be the same number of players that were originally submitted on their roster to WPYLA. Example: Bethel Park has 23 players on their roster that they submitted to WPYLA. Their game day max roster size will then be 23 players. Example 2: Chartiers Valley has 17 players on their roster that they submitted to WPYLA. Their game day max roster size will then be 20 players. They can call up 3 players from a lower divisions to play if they feel they need 3 additional players. Call up players should ONLY be used when there are injuries, illness, or significant absence for a game, but again you can not go over your team s max roster number.
Call up Players Example 1 CLUB B HAS 56 PLAYERS Platinum team has 20 players total rostered. Their Game Day Roster Max is 20 Players. Player 12, Player 13, Player 14 and Player 15 are missing Saturday s game. Platinum team can call any 4 players up from their Silver team. Program will have 4 of these players attend the Platinum game on Saturday to play. However, you can not go over 20 players on the sideline.
