  3. Dictionary-Oxford Other definitions of Health 1. Physical and mental well-being; 2. freedom from disease, pain, or defect; 3. normalcy of physical and mental functions; 4. soundness. The state of being free from illness or injury. "he was restored to health" Health Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. In 1986, the WHO Trusted Source made further clarifications: Other three types of definition of health? A resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities. Three leading approaches include 1. the "medical model", 2. the "holistic model", and 3. the "wellness model". This evolution has been reflected in changing ways to measure health. This means that health is a resource to support an individual s function in wider society, rather than an end in itself. A healthful lifestyle provides the means to lead a full life with meaning and purpose.

  4. Health: Health is a state of complete physical mental and social well-being. It's not only the absence of disease. A person is said to be healthy when he/she is free of any type of disease (infectious/deficiency) when he/she is mentally happy and healthy, and when his/her social relationships are healthy in society. Hence, to have a healthy life one has to be physically, mentally, and socially complete.

  5. Personal health and community health?

  6. Personal health and community health? Personal health refers to the mental, physical and social well-being of an individual, While Community health is about enhancing and maintaining the health of the entire community (population). Personal health: An individual can maintain his/her health by taking proper nutrition, drinking clean water, observing domestic and personal hygiene, adopting good habits and a healthy life-style, exercising regularly and relaxing etc. Community health Community health compromises of improving, maintaining and protecting the health of the whole community. Community health can be maintained by providing health education, maintaining proper hygienic and sanitary conditions by proper disposal of sewage, providing healthcare services, providing safe drinking water etc. Human beings live in societies/ communities, hence the community environment plays an important role in the health of a person.

  13. Its time to change the definition of health By Cara Kiernan Fallon and Jason Karlawish , July

  14. Meet Betty, a typical aging American. At 82, she spends almost as much time with her doctors as she does with her grand children. She has to. She takes seven prescription medications to treat her high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and arthritis. Ten years ago, she was treated for breast cancer. Is Betty healthy? According to her, Absolutely! She enjoys her spacious apartment, two cats, close friends, and 50-gallon fish.

  15. But according to the World Health Organization, Betty is mistaken. The WHO defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with a range of WHO partners, endorses this definition. Being healthy, in their view, excludes having any disease. Once upon a time, this definition made sense. Today, managing disease, not solely its absence, is a means to a healthy life, especially for older adults.

  16. Rather than pursuing the absence of disease, we need a more inclusive definition of health one that works for more people rather than categorically excluding an entire segment of the life course. A definition of complete health as the absence of disease leaves little space for people with chronic diseases and for managing them in new ways. High blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, arthritis, kidney disease, thyroid conditions, and osteoporosis are among the most common chronic conditions, but with regular access to continuous medical care, . .these and many more can be managed well, sometimes even without symptoms .having the best of Health

  17. Managing multiple diseases, maximizing function, optimizing medication regimens, prioritizing different health risks and outcomes, and preparing for end-of-life considerations .are some of the areas that deserve to be included in basic definitions of health. Developing a definition of health that works for everyone or, perhaps, that works for more people across different segments of the life course will allow older adults the chance to be healthy. We should revise our definitions of health to account for the need for early and excellent disease management. Managing disease, and not solely its absence, is a means to a healthy life .

  18. Praying for the Best of Health for all Human beings GLOBALLY Thank you for Kind attention
