PURPOSE To mediate Technology Annual Teaching Plan (ATP) and the School Based Assessment for Grade 6; To establish meaningful process for the remaining teaching time as per the Revised School Calendar for 2020; To enable teachers to cover the essential core content /skills in each grade within the available time. To show the outline of the content for this grade; the Revised Natural Sciences and teaching and learning

AMENDMENTS TO THE CONTENT OVERVIEW FOR THE PHASE The Revised Natural Sciences and Technology ATP has the same content as in CAPS; The remaining content is does establish requisite knowledge and skills to proceed with the learning of science concepts in the Senior Phase; Content in some topics has been reduced; and some topics have been cut out completely; Content for Planet Earth and Beyond has been removed completely; Knowledge Strands Matter and Materials and Energy and Change flow over to Terms 3 and 4 respectively; Textbooks can be used as they are, but noting the omitted content in the Revised Natural Sciences and Technology ATP.

INFORMAL ASSESSMENT Informal assessment should continue as normal, and as stated in the Revised Natural Sciences and Technology ATP, which is no different from CAPS; At every opportunity, Science Process Skills should be developed and assessed in the teaching and learning of the subject; Recording of informal assessment is left to the discretion of the teacher; Learners should read and write regularly to develop language skills;

  10. SUMMARY: REVISED PROGRAMME OF ASSESSMENT Term 1 Term 2 Term 3 Term 4 Test on Term 2 work Test on Term 3 work Test on Term 3 and 4 work with the following distribution: Term 3 work 40% Term 4 work 60% Assessment tasks administered and reported on.
