2025-26 Course Selection at WoodCreek Junior High
In preparation for transitioning to high school, current 8th graders at WoodCreek Junior High have a detailed course selection process to follow. Information on course selection sheets, timelines, presentations, and utilizing SchooLinks for entering course requests is provided. Students are encouraged to complete their course selection sheets with input from parents and to ensure they choose enough courses to fill their schedule. The importance of selecting alternate courses and endorsements is emphasized. The process includes watching a course selection video, entering selections in SchooLinks, reviewing with counselors, and final verification. Detailed steps and dates are outlined to guide students through the process successfully.

Course Selection Information The following information can be found on the WCJH webpage, under the Counselor tab: Course Selection Sheets for Katy HS and Tompkins HS Course Selection Timeline SchooLinks Step-by-Step Guide (directions for entering course requests) High School Course Selection Presentation for 8th to 9th Grade OTHS Course Selection Presentation Katy Course Selection Presentation Video: How to Select Pathway of Study and Endorsement in SchooLinks KISD Course Catalogue (paper copies do not exist)
Course Selection Process 1. View the course selection video in your science class. 1. Take your course selection sheet home & complete it with your parent. 2. Enter your course selections into SchooLinks starting February 3rd. 3. Return your completed course selection sheet to your Science teacher by February 7th. 4. Counselors will meet with students individually to review course requests on: February 21st (Van Wyk), February 24th (Weatherwax), February 25th (Yancy) 6. Course verification window opens from February 27th- March 7th

Course Planning Sheet You will complete the 2025-26 course selection sheet for your HS Please indicate your course requests by fully filling out the chart on the planning sheet Choose enough courses to fill 7 class periods If you choose a semester course, remember to choose another semester course to complete the year IMPORTANT: Remember to complete the Alternate Course Selections section on the planning sheet Limited availability in some courses Scheduling conflicts may prevent you from getting a course you requested List 3 alternative electives that could replace a class if it is full
Schoolinks Students are required to enter course requests in a program called SchooLinks. SchooLinks will be open to enter courses Feb. 3rd Follow the directions from the Step-by-Step Guide to enter your course requests. Here s a picture of what the SchooLinks tile looks like on MyKaty Cloud.
**Students MUST choose at least one endorsement at the time they enter 9th grade
4 Year Plans During your individual meeting you will also complete your 4-Year Plan with a counselor This is a PRELIMINARY plan, it is NOT permanent! Each year you will meet with your high school counselor to make any needed changes The purpose of our meeting is for you to start thinking about what pathway you want to pursue in high school
4 Year Plans- SchooLinks To practice making your 4- year plan, visit the WCJH website and click the Counselor s tab: Under the counselor s tab, click on Course Selection Information Scroll down to the heading that says Additional Course Selection Resources Click the link that says, Sample 4- year plan After you enter your course requests in SchooLinks for your 9th grade year, fill in as much as you can for 10th-12th grade
Take your course selection sheet home & review it with your parents Complete the 2025-26 Course Selection Planning Sheet Enter 9th grade course requests in SchooLinks The course requests you enter in SchooLinks need to match the selections you ve written on your planning sheet Remember to enter alternative elective choices into SchooLinks in the same order they are written on your planning sheet Only enter enough courses in SchooLinks to fill 7 class periods NEXT STEPS Return your course selection sheet completed to your Science teacher by February 7th
February 27th- March 7th: Students & parents will verify course requests in SchooLinks: More detailed instructions will be sent at a later date regarding the course verification process COURSE VERIFICATION PROCESS The ONLY opportunity to request changes to your courses will be during the verification process. Once course verification is complete, requests to change electives will NOT be accepted.
