  2. About Went to University of Texas at Arlington, University of North Texas Health Science Center, and AT Still Unviersity Graduated 2019 3 years of ER experience Currently working in Urgent Care and Allergy medicine

  3. Emergency Department Layout Roughly Triage Trauma 1 Trauma 2 Labs Rads Area 1 Area 2 Area 3 Observation

  4. Emergency Department Staff Non-medical personnel Health care personnel Social service Physicians Secretary APPs Janitorial Nurse supervisors ITs Nurses Maintenance Techs Labs/Rads Scribes

  5. Typical day Volumes vary day to day, but anywhere between 150-200 Acuity anywhere between common colds to high-risk traumas i.e. level 1-5 (1 being highest acuity) Staffing is based on busy time of the day Medical personnel shift ranges from 10-12 hours per day, AM or PM

  6. Challenges One of the biggest challenges right now across many departments within the hospital system is staffing, and COVID only made it more challenging Staffing shortage can be nurses, providers, laboratory or radiology techs Staffing shortage can also come from a different part of the hospital that holds up the rooms in the ER Multiple high acuity cases, heavy volumes are/can be unpredictable where to go? Patient may have various/multiple complaints that can take a long time to be taken care of Behavior health patients Resources

  7. Things that work in the ER Organization Teamwork Fast service Access to multiple resources if applicable Staffs who are highly trained and efficient
