  10. Present New information Section C Learn me! Set me out like this in your exam! War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. Directed by Tom Morris and Marianne Elliott performed by the National Theatre London. Answer ..

  11. Construct Meaning 09 Describe in detail how this actor used their acting skills in an effective way in your favourite scene from the production. [20 marks] A Midsummer Night s Dream by William Shakespeare Directed by Tom Morris, performed by the Hand Sprung Puppet Company. It is about lovers who fall in and out of love due to some mischievous faries with love posion. The scene I found most effective was performed by Akiya Henry who played Hermia and her lover Lysander who was played by Alex Felton. At this point Lysander is under love posion and has fallen in love with helena, Hermia is appaled by this and becomes intensely angry with Lysander. Akiya gradually builds up the frustration of Hermia through out this scene as Lysander ignores her more and more. Her movements start of as she just trys to get Lysanders attention by tapping his shoulder she gradually gets more angry as she looks like she is building up all her energy. Akiya makes this scene incredibly effective through her use of facial exspression, vocal skills and movement. As her anger builds she trys to make herself seem as big as possible elongating her body, her facial expressions become more over exaggerated as her anger increases. Her face becomes scrunched up and angry. Suddenly it is as if she just pops and runs towards Lysander her arms flying trying to get ahold of him. Her intensions were to create a comic scene. She does this by her over exaggerated movements. As Alex lifts her up her legs swrall out like a baby kicking and whyning getting frustrated. Her exspressions are unimpressed as he easily moves her out of his way to Helena creating the comedy of this scene. Her vocals are shocked and high pitched as she shows her upset towards Lysander but as Lysander lifts her up squaking, whyning and kicking out like a baby, the audience laughs creating the comic effect the Actor and the playwright intended.
