Context and key issues from presentations Primary Health Care provision can be improved through collaboration and cooperation with various stakeholders, including Non- governmental, governmental and community-based organisations. Environmental health services are fundamental to addressing the social determinants of health, particularly environmental determinants e.g. safe water; Communities, families, and individuals are key to facilitating positive change and health behaviour; Enhancing governance and leadership at facility level can improve facility-based improvement programmes and improved quality care. 3
Recommendations, approaches, solutions and opportunities Building capacity is key to ensuring the correct application of the intersectoral collaboration framework at various levels; Community partners are the foundation on which Environmental Health can co-design partnerships, with careful consideration of the needs and challenges of the community; Collaborations and partnerships should include a shared vision, co-developed plans for implementation and evaluation, resource alignment, joint reflection and adaptation, and shared decisions regarding any subsequent steps; Groups like Community Caregivers and EPWPs can access community members of any age group. This provide a multiplier effect in spreading health education and promotion intervention; Prevention programmes should be central to PHC services for quality improvement; 4
Relevance to Primary Health Care Services Partnerships and collaborations with various stakeholders play a huge role in improving the quality primary health care services; Social determinants of health, such as safe water, sanitation, hygiene, food and air determines the ability of PHC services to cope; Leadership and accountability is key for PHC services; Community involvement is critical to ensuring PHC services that are responsive to the needs of individuals and families; 5
