WELCOME TO AIKEN ELEMENTARY ANNUAL TITLE I PTO OPEN HOUSE
TITLE I Title I status is determined by the number of students who qualify as Pupils in Poverty as identified by the USDA within a school population. Identified students are those found to be eligible for free or reduced school meals. In our district, an elementary school must have at least 35% of its students qualify as Pupils in Poverty in order for the school to receive these federal funds and middle school must have at least 45%. Our school s Pupils in Poverty percentage is 70.3%, and the school's allocation, which is based on this percentage is $1,888,298.00 for this school year. This money is based on the 2019-2020 Pupils in Poverty count from March. Each year the school is required to write a plan on how this money should be used based on input from a Title 1 planning team. The team consists of teachers, parents, school admin, district personnel, and community members. Each spring, all parents have the opportunity to provide input on the school s Title 1 plan by completing and submitting the Title 1 parent survey.
Your input in the preparation and evaluation of our school s Title I plan and its parent involvement activities is valued. As the year progresses, if you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. PARENT INVOLVEMENT IN TITLE I
This year, we are funding the following activities with the Title I funds that have been allocated to the school: Reading Interventionist for 1stand 2ndgrade. Instructional technology such as new IPads and a laptop cart with 30 laptops. Instructional software such as Reflex Math and IXL. Instructional materials for small group instruction and intervention. Substitutes for planning days/professional development for teachers. Materials and supplies for parent events and newsletters. We invite you to join the PTO. Our PTO president is Amy Anton. You may reach out to school or check out the PTO page on the AES website.
