Annual Title I Parent Meeting, SIC Meeting September 2020
Overview of Title I -Lake View Elementary School is a Title I school and receives federal funding based on our free and reduced lunch count. -The goal of Title I is to improve student academic achievement in reading math. -The purpose is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards & State academic assessments.
Dillon School District Four Title I Project Lake View Elementary School s Title I Project Lake View Elementary School s Title I School-wide project is available for inspection by the public. The Title I Project is available for viewing at any time and copies are located in the front office and media center. Parents may also view the project at Parent Nights and offer suggestions at the Welcome Table. Parents who may have questions, comments or concerns about Lake View Elementary School s Title I Project may contact Dr. Kim Walsh, Principal or Frances Baker Title I Facilitator, at 843 759 3003. Dillon School District Four s Title I Project is available for inspection by the public. The Title I Project is located at Dillon School District Four offices. Parents who may have questions, comments, or concerns about the Title I Project may contact Mrs. Lynn Liebenrood at 774- 1200.
Written last Spring, is based on test scores, compact and parent involvement suggestions, needs assessments and committee suggestions With our plan we employ 2 teachers and a Title I Facilitator. We will be purchasing Math and English Language Arts supplies and instructional materials; parent involvement activities, student incentives, travel and professional development throughout the year.
Parent involvement is vital to student achievement. We are required to do six things in order to get parents involved in their child s education as a result of accepting federal funds: 1) Parent Involvement Policy 2) Parent /Student/Teacher/School Compact 3) Annual Parent Meeting 4) Training Sessions for Parents 5) Assessment Information 6) Annual Review
The parent involvement policy is a partnership between the school and the parent. It shares what the school is doing to improve academic achievement and how we will keep you involved. A draft will be sent home asking for input and changes. Copies are available for review & we welcome input on how to improve it. The Parent/Student/Teacher/School Compact is the agreement between all participants of what is expected from everyone in order for the child to be successful. A draft copy will be sent home asking for input and changes. We welcome input on how to improve it. We will use the suggestions made on the draft to update and add to the compact as well as other school policies. It requires a signature so, when you see it- please sign and return it.
A third required component is the Annual Parent Meeting where information about Title I and the schoolwide program are shared with parents. Due to COVId-19 restrictions- Title I paperwork will be sent home with students and posted on Lake View Elementary School website. Title I information received through students and School Messenger and this PowerPoint will serve as our annual parent meeting. 4) Training of Parents Trainingparents is also a requirement when accepting Title 1 funds. Parent Meetings are an example. We will hold at least two other parent nights this year- as long as COVID-19 permits. Dates will be announced at a later time for future meetings. Parents will also be offered the opportunity to learn about the Parent Portal to view their child s grades. If you have any ideas on training you would be interested in, please let us know.
To keep you informed of your childs progress, we will send home progress reports, report cards, MAP data, state assessment results, and other forms of data throughout the year. Please review this information carefully and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
The sixth requirement is an Annual Review. Later in the year we will send home a Needs Assessment that will help us with our Annual Review. This consists of a review of the student assessment data, evaluations we receive from parents, parent surveys, and other sources of information as a guideline for the development of next year s plan.
Parents Right to Know & School Level Requirements- provides information on qualifications of teachers, assistants and substitute teachers who work in Title I schools. The teacher information is found on SCTeachers.org and information on all can be found in the personnel office. Rights of Homeless Children- Dillon Four serves its homeless children by providing clothing when they have a burnout so that they can continue coming to school. Anyone can make a referral to the Office of Student Services and they will be looked at on an individual basis.

Information Regarding Your Title I Program The Importance of Parent Involvement in The Importance of Parent Involvement in The Title I Program The Title I Program Parents you can influence the success of your child in school more than any teacher or federal program. By becoming an active participant in the Title I parent involvement plan at your school, you will: Serve as a role model, showing your child that you support his / her education. Assure that you are aware of your child s educational progress; thereby demonstrating how important that progress is to you. Teach your student that your input at the school is appreciated and that you support its efforts. Title Title I I programs programs generally Smaller classes or special instructional Spaces. Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act provides financial assistance to state and local educational agencies to meet the needs of educationally deprived, at-risk children. The goal of Title I is to provide instructional services and activities to meet the needs of disadvantaged children identified as failing or most at risk of failing the state s challenging performance standards. How Do Schools Receive Title I Funds? How Do Schools Receive Title I Funds? The federal government provides funding to each state. State educational agencies send this money to school districts. How much money each school receives is determined by the number of low-income students attending that school. What will Title I do for my child? What will Title I do for my child? The Title I program will provide your child with extra educational assistance beyond the regular classroom. Research shows that how well a child does in school depends a great deal upon how much their parents get involved in their education. You can become more involved by: Joining local and national school / parent organizations. Supporting school extra-curricular activities. Volunteering at the school. Attending parent-teacher conferences. Communicating with your child s teacher regularly, by writing notes, telephoning the school, etc. Keeping your child s teacher informed about events in your child s life which may affect his / her performance at school. Discussing other ideas with your child s teacher and parent organizations regarding parent involvement. Which schools do Title I serve? Which schools do Title I serve? The program elementary andsecondary schools who have demonstrated that extra assistance is needed. Title I also serves children who attend parochial and private schools. . Lastly, Title I schools: Lastly, Title I schools: Identify the students at their school who need the most educational assistance based on the criteria that school has chosen. Students do NOT have to be from low-income families to receive Title I services. Set goals for improving the skills of educationally disadvantaged students at their school.
