Provost Updates Final Exam Opt-Out Instructors have the option to opt-out of a final exam and structure their final assessment in the form of final papers, final individual/group projects or presentations, portfolio reviews, or other forms of cumulative assessment. If you plan to opt out of a final exam, please make sure your department s instructors notify the registrar by using the form at https://registrar.uconn.edu/final-exam-opt-out/. Provost Updates Fall 2021 Proofs Fall 2021 proofs will be based on teaching schedule from fall 2019 Registrar will be in touch (if not already) with detailed instructions for departments to begin preparing proofs More information can be found here in a recent message from the Office of the Provost Teaching Excellence Letters It will be time soon to send teaching excellence letters and teaching improvement letters. We recognize that Covid has had a significant impact on all and that may be the reason a faculty member received a lower score than prior years -- we encourage you to reach out to your faculty members and offer support. Our office will reach out in the coming weeks to ask if there is any reason we shouldn't send an improvement letter, so please be prepared for those emails

  12. Provost Updates LTE Updates LTE s goal of cultivating identity, agency and purpose. We are here to transform the life of every undergraduate student at the University of Connecticut Although disrupted by a global pandemic, significant work took place over the last 14 months LTE was organized into working groups; Culture Change; Authentic and Inclusive Learning; Advising and Mentoring; Best Practices; and Assessment. These groups have been restructured and recharged. In September we invited over 140 of our colleagues to join us for the Cultivate: Life Transformative Education Conference. Created the LTE Speaker Series ; In November Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer Dr Tuitt was the inaugural speaker. Two additional events are planned this Spring: February 12 at 9-11am- Live Panel Discussion on Transformational Learning at UConn April 9 at 9-11am Discussion with Dr. Pam Eddinger The 2019-2020, UConn Life-Transformative Education Task Force Interim Report is complete and submitted to Provost Launched the LTE mentoring pilot program

Provost Updates Future of Learning Committee Chaired by Jeffrey Shoulson and Daniel Burkey Committee will begin meeting in the first week of February How can we use what we have learned from COVID to enhance our educational mission and increase the close personal interactions between faculty and students that are a hallmark of a UConn education? UConn Reads Call for Proposals Invitation to faculty, staff and students to propose innovative ways to integrate The Great Derangement by Amitav Ghosh into projects and activities for all members of UConn community Theme: Environmental Justice and Human Rights Mini-grant proposals due February 19, 2021.   15. PTR Questions Throughout this year s PTR process, we have been making note of common questions and concerns raised at each step. We would like to start some conversations around a few items including early review, years of credit, and external letter writers. We will be going into breakout groups and discussing prompt questions about these topics, and bring you all back for a brief discussion before the end of the meeting.
