PSEO Postsecondary Enrollment Options
What is PSEO? Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) is a program that allows students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year to earn college credit while in high school
Benefits of PSEO Opportunity to pursue more challenging coursework Wider variety of class offerings Tuition, fees, textbooks all included Access to all Student Services and clubs Credits apply towards high school requirements and college Can take 1 class or up to full time
Who is eligible for PSEO? Juniors: Upper one-third of class rank OR earn a 3.5 cumulative high school GPA OR score at or above the 70th percentile on any nationally standardized, norm-referenced test Seniors: Upper one-half of class rank OR earn a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA OR score at or above the 50th percentile on any nationally standardized, norm-referenced test High School Sophomores: Pass 8th Grade MCA reading test Must be enrolled as a full time public high school student to apply
Commonly Accepted Tests ACT ACT Aspire SAT CAT(timed) Iowa Basic PSAT PreACT Tests can t be more than 2 years old, by date of application
What to Consider Counselor / Teacher involvement is reduced Parental Access to Information - FERPA Attendance/Semester dates/Spring Break Late Work Policies Homework vs Class Time (College is flip of HS)
What to Consider Necessary skills to be successful Self-Advocacy Time management study time College transcript Grades remain on academic record permanently! High School transcript Difficulty keeping high GPA
Courses NOT Funded by PSEO Study Abroad Outdoor Activities Skiing Snowboarding Camping Golf Music Lessons (if not in AFA program) Developmental courses ( 1000) Selective Admissions Program courses: Nursing Physical Therapy Asst. Repeat Courses If students earn a D or higher in course, PSEO funding will not reimburse- student would have to pay out of pocket Only F or W grades are repeatable through PSEO
Transferring Credits: Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) A package of 40 general education credits towards a bachelors degree Accepted by Minnesota State Colleges & Universities University of Minnesota Campuses MnCAP Program Some private colleges uminn
Transferring Credits: Minnesota State Transfer Pathways Associate Degree Pathways that transfer ALL 60 credits to a matching Bachelor s Degree at any Minnesota State University*. Students are still responsible for meeting any university or major admission requirements, but their credits will transfer directly into their bachelor s program. *Bemidji State, Metro State, MSU: Mankato, MSU: Moorhead, Southwest Minnesota State, St. Cloud State, Winona State Current Anoka-Ramsey Pathways include: Art Biology Business Chemistry Communication Studies Exercise Science Spanish Computer Science English Psychology Political Science Theatre
Process with High School While waiting on Acceptance to PSEO and to register for college courses, plan your schedule as if you were planning to attend your regular school. Sit down with Counselor/Dean and discuss graduation requirements and which courses at ARCC will fulfill requirements. ARCC does not know High School grad requirements!

Application Steps: 1) Before deadline: Online application High School Transcript (& MCA score if 10th grade) PSEO Notice of Student Registration Form Standardized test scores, if applicable
After Acceptance : Accuplacer Placement Test Anoka-Ramsey uses the Accuplacer test to determine appropriate placement into courses by testing students in both Math and English Study materials and testing schedule available online www.anokaramsey.edu/assessment Students can place directly into college level general courses, and English and Algebra with sufficient scores on the ACT or MCA: Reading(General courses): ACT- 21 or higher, MCA R1047 English: ACT- 18 or higher, no MCA score applicable Math: ACT-22 or higher ACT, MCA depends on math course (1148-1158)
After Acceptance : Orientation and Registration Required for PSEO students - parents welcome Group Advising Register for classes with advisor assistance Receive your student photo ID Fall O & R Dates: Late April through August!
