  1. Assessment is for Learning Strategies ENQUIRY BY AILSA MUNRO

  2. Aim To rate the success of a specific Assessment is for Learning (AifL)strategy across all levels. I aim to prove that a school wide approach can boost the impact an AifL approach can have on pupils learning. The enquiry was monitored over two terms.

  3. Method Teachers met and agreed on a consistent approach and terminology for the use of the fans. The use of the fans could be adapted to best meet the needs of the learners in each class.

  4. Different ways to use the fans. Uses Timing of use. Reason for use. Different ages and stages of pupils. Different areas of the curriculum.

  5. Impacts of school closure I was still able to carry out my enquiry. I used my own observations and staff responses. I cut my research time down to two terms. I have attempted to use this strategy digitally through remote learning with little engagement or success.

  6. Findings Successful use Able to group pupils on understanding. Can help to focus support needed. Can provide groups for differentiated activities. Challenges Fidgeting with fans. Damaging fans. Copying friends.

  7. Looking to the future The school Continue to use across all levels appropriately. Use the fans to inform next steps. My teaching I will continue to use the fans with my next class. Continue to add AifL to my teaching.

  8. Thank you for listening
