Career & Technical Education Incentive Grants Class of 2017 Application Process
Program At A Glance The program grants school districts up to $1,000 for each GRADUATED student that earns an industry-recognized certification in an occupational field facing workforce shortages.
The program grants school districts up to $1,000 for each student that earns an industry-recognized certification in an industry facing workforce shortages. Funds do not to be obligated within the fiscal year received. Funds go to school districts, not students. Funds are intended to support programming that results in students earning these certificates. There is a maximum of $3,000,000 in grant funding for this program at this time. If more than 3,000 valid students are submitted, awards will be prorated among all applicants at this time. School districts are the only valid applicants for these grants.
The program grants school districts up to $1,000 for each student that earns an industry-recognized certification in an industry facing workforce shortages. A list of approved certifications will be published each year. Only GRADUATED students earning certifications from that list will be counted for grant awards. School districts can apply to add new certifications to the next year s list. NEW Certification Applications .
The program grants school districts up to $1,000 for each student that earns an industry-recognized certification in an industry facing workforce shortages. Each year, labor market projections will be used to help determine the industries facing workforce shortages. Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Department of Public Instruction (DPI), and the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) will establish a list of applicable industries. Only certifications that serve those industries will be included on the approved certification list for a given year.

Common Mistakes SEE Approved Certification List to determine documentation required to claim funds Missing or Inappropriate documentation delays the verification process Keep a copy for your files Do NOT submit students other than those that graduated in 2017. Any other graduating classes will be disqualified AND must be re-submitted in the correct graduating year to be considered for funding. Graduates prior to 2017 submitted cannot be claimed
Common Mistakes VERIFY WISEIDs again against your Student Information System before submission Incorrectly entered WISEID numbers delay the verification process Do NOT email WISEIDs; Only submit applications through Accellion. These numbers are like SSNs and must be protected by FERPA and data security protocols
Common Mistakes DPI Asst Childcare Teacher (ACCT)/Infant- Toddler (IT) are NOT under Skills Co-Op; These are Business & Industry certifications DPI Skills Co-Op in Childcare is NOT the same as ACCT/IT Tech Colleges Dual Credit classes do not qualify UNLESS They comprise a state-approved program AND Program Numbers begin with 61-, 31-, 30-, 10-
Common Mistakes CNA Passing the class is not the same as passing the license Submit as a B&I- Dept_of_HealthServices CNA license with Registry number in column G Submit the Tech College class/program also BUT ONLY if it is considered a state-approved PROGRAM Any questions- PLEASE CALL
Application Completion Excel Application Form Online Digital Signature- SEE Directions TAB; Pdf ok but only WITH Excel form too FN, LN- make sure spelling is exactly as in your SIS WISEID- from your SIS Certification Category- 4 to choose from Certification Entity- WHO is the certification offered through Specific Certification- Choose from available ones approved Last Column- CNA Number, CDL Number, Tech College Program Number; LEAVE BLANK for all others

Adding New Certificates to the List To get new certifications on the approved list, school districts must submit applications for those certifications to DWD. The form for these applications is new for this year, and was developed by DPI and DWD.
