Apprentice support The facility to enable communication between: the apprentice and the company; the apprentice and their mentors; the apprentice and their training provider; and the apprentice and merSETA. The facility to: match an apprentice acquiring a certain skill with a company providing training or that has a need for an apprentice in the acquired skill; enable an apprentice to view the curriculum in an intuitive and interactive manner; enable apprentices to view different career options/pathways; enable automatic reminders to apprentices regarding their personal learning pathway; and Enable apprentices to receive motivations & rewards. 10

The facility to: match a company providing training on a certain skill with an apprentice acquiring that skill; match a company with an accredited training provider; enable companies to view the requirements and checklists they have to meet in order to gain workplace approval; and enable companies to manage mentors assigned to apprentices. 12

The facility to: enable merSETA to define a common vocabulary of acronyms and terms in the apprenticeship process in order to facilitate a common understanding between all the role players; enable merSETA to monitor whether an apprentice is at work/training at the times the apprentice is required to; enable merSETA to define Motivation and reward incentives; enable merSETA to extract reports in order to view trends and forecasts; enable merSETA to manage risk cover/insurance for apprentices; enable CLO s to perform and manage follow up visits with companies and apprentices; and supplement to the follow up visits. 16

Assessments The facility to: enable apprentices and assessors (company and training provider) to view an electronic trade training schedule; enable apprentices and assessors (company and training provider) to sign logbook/ trade training schedule using a digital signature technology; enable an encrypted, unchangeable and date-stamped list of assessment events & evidence; assessors (company and training provider) to formally assess and sign off assignments/tasks/portfolio of evidence using a technology solution; support assessments in the micro-accreditation process; enable assessors (company and training provider) to assess through simulated training; and To support undemanding / easier workplace approval. 20
