In church leadership, each role serves a specific function based on responsibilities, aptitudes, and appointment. Jesus Christ is the ultimate leader, expressing His leadership through His Word and Spirit. Each role in the church has a specific function based on: Responsibilities Aptitudes Appointment
New Testament Leadership A. A. The head and leader is Jesus Christ The head and leader is Jesus Christ He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. - - Colossians 1:18 Colossians 1:18
There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; - - Ephesians 4:4 Ephesians 4:4
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. - - Matthew 28:18 Matthew 28:18
Jesus expresses His leadership in 2 ways: 1. 1. His Word His Word He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day. - - John 12:48 John 12:48
and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; - - II Timothy 3:15 II Timothy 3:15- -16 16
