Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Immigration policy Announced in 2012 by the Obama administration Offers two years of deportation relief and work authorization to eligible young unauthorized immigrants (Batalova & Esterline, 2022). How to qualify What is DACA? Age/educational status DACA students face legal, bureaucratic, and structural issues across higher education, the US government, and interpersonally, too.

  3. How does DACA impact our students? Undocumented students face structural barriers to higher education, such as a lack of adequate mentoring, limited information on eligibility from postsecondary institutions, and a lack of continued financing for tuition and other living costs (Malik, 2019).

  5. Resources, resources, resources! Affirming language and patience What resources exist for these students? What can I do to empower them? Commitment to finding an answer Student support services: Mental health/counseling and psychological services On-campus healthcare services Food pantries English language learner support Office of Global Programs Office of Student Aid Finding a community on-campus Advocacy
