Bid criteria Level 6/7 only currently approved standards only To start September 2017 Any HEI could lead one, be a partner on others ~ 4 week bid window ~ 70 applications 12 projects funded

Reflections & Observations - II RoATP / Procurement process uncertainty created through new register process Employer / applicant uncertainty / lack of clarity SME issue for new providers UWE learning new set of ESFA protocols/rules/agreements Timescales for whole project multiple unknowns employers, applicants, EPA, . What is a DA how is it different / similar to existing provision ? Level 6/7 DA different skill set / expectations impact of EPA rather than portfolio of competencies as with frameworks Impact / benefit to core UGrad programmes

What existing models / approaches do we have already we could adapt ? 20% off the job - Level 6/7 Graduate attributes how do we make effective use of apprentice/student led learning/reflection Role of on-line / e-based delivery, assessment formative / summative, feedback ? WBL what s the UWE definition / interpretation ? Employer input/requirements ? Mentoring, assessing, feedback ??
A possible framework ? Learning takes place at university and in place of work/employment. Personal / Professional E.g. - Study skills module / activity, report writing, Comms. skills Domain / Subject Guided / Directed learning domain specific knowledge and skills delivered at the university using face to face, blended, labs/workshops etc. Academic led, content, pace, focus is set by the module leader as with conventional teaching/modules. Guided / Directed Learning E.g. Taught module lectures / labs/workshops Work / Employment based learning UWE DA s integrate work place / employment based learning activities apprentice/student led projects and activities in the workplace. Undertaken by the apprentice/student with direction from academic investigate how your company does ., what is your company strategy for , or independently managed by apprentice/student ie individual project/dissertation. Work / Employment based Learning E.g. Research project in company about company, sector, values E.g. Final year project based on in-company project/task E.g. Subject specific software package/language, technical skill, knowledge. Subject project module where project is learning approach assessed via report / oral exam etc Two facets Personal/professional development study skills, report writing, comms skills, team work, leadership Domain knowledge / expertise needed to know to do the job/ role as defined by the standard/assessment plan
