Doublepeak Parent Information Night on November 16, 2021
Beverly Holtz, the Elementary Music Teacher at Double Peak School, is gearing up for the 2nd and 3rd graders' musical information session. Parents of students are actively involved, with Suzanne Carlson taking charge of coordinating volunteer committees. Audition packets will be available for pick-up starting November 19, with auditions scheduled for December 8. The entire cast will be announced on December 13, with students preparing their lines and songs via Google Classroom over the Christmas break.

2ndand 3rdGraders Musical Information
Beverly Holtz is in her third year as Elementary Music Teacher at Double Peak School and in her tenth year overall teaching music in the public schools. She has been the music director for Little Shop of Horrors and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown at Kearney High School. As well as directing many elementary level musicals including The Weather Show, Malice in the Palace and Angels, Lambs, Ladybugs and Fireflies. Director Beverly Holtz When not teaching Beverly can be heard singing with Pro Arte Voices San Diego, The Full Measure Carolers and the Paul Holtz Trio.
Parent of a 2ndand 7thgrader at DPS Worked behind the scenes on The Lion King, Queen of Hearts, and The Little Mermaid at DPS Producer Suzanne Carlson Responsible for coordinating parent volunteer committees, back of house, assisting director in anyway they need.
Parent Volunteer She has participated in theater throughout middle school and high school. She participated in the community theater while living near Dallas, Texas. Holly Gardener She is a vocalist and plays piano. She has been the music director while performing in theater in Texas. She loves that more than anything else she s done in theater. I am definitely not a professional but have had some real-life experience with theater. I am excited to help y all in the spring!
Audition Packets will be available for pick up starting November 19 in the Music Room. Auditions are Wednesday December 8 @ 2:40 4:15 pm in the PAC Audition Information Bring completed audition packet with payment
Entire Cast: Wednesday December 8 All students will learn a song and dance to perform that day Students interested in a principal role will be asked to sing and read by themselves (character lines will be in audition packet) Audition Day Your child will be assigned the number on the top of the packet, this will be how you will receive their part. Cast will be announced Monday December 13thby email/ posting on the Music Room Door (B-121). No refunds will be given after the cast list is posted. Students will have lines and songs available via the google classroom for study over Christmas break.
Entire Cast: Rehearsals begin on Tuesday January 18 @ 2:45 4:30 pm in PAC Every Tuesday and Thursday All students should be familiar with their lines/songs by the beginning of rehearsals January 18. Rehearsals Please note: Only 2 conflicts are permitted. Children's Musical Theater Consultant directing | producing | coaching Founding Artistic Director of The J*Company Youth Theatre in La Jolla, CA, now in it's 25th Season A graduate of the University of Arizona, BFA, Becky has been producing and directing Children's Theatre professionally for over 25 years. She was on the First National Tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as the Children's Choir Director and Casting Director. Director/ Choreographer Becky Cherlin Baird

Entire Cast: Thursday December 9 All students will learn a song and dance to perform that day from 2:40 - 3:30 pm Audition Day Principal roles will sing a song of their choice from 3:30 - 5:00 pm Call backs for principal roles will be performed on Friday December 10 @ 2:40 - 4:30 in Music Room

We need all the help we can get!! A parent will be required to volunteer for each cast member a minimum of 5 hours Volunteer Information We will not be using volunteers during weekly rehearsal. We will need volunteers for audition days and dress rehearsal.
In order to make the show run successfully, we will need parent volunteers on various committees. One parent of each cast member must serve on a committee. Committees are as follows: Sets/Backdrop Props Costumes Refreshments Sound Lights House Program Bio Board Star Grams Novelties/Flowers Hair/Makeup Graphic Designer Videographer Photographer Backstage Supervision Volunteer Opportunities
We will follow covid protocols dictated by the health department that Doublepeak has already instituted at school, masks are required at all time indoors. Don't come to rehearsal if you have Covid symptoms. Covid Protocols Make sure your symptoms or exposure are reported to the school. Practice assigned scenes or songs with the recordings in Google Classroom and complete a Google Form Assignment documenting your work. As long as those steps are followed it will not count as an absence.
