  8. Academic and Professional 2023-24 feedback My mentor had excellent listening skills and allowed me to freely explore and discuss any concerns I raised. My mentors' insights and perspectives gave me the confidence and understanding I needed to negotiate a difficult work situation. I have developed a renewed perspective on my job role and future career which has made a remarkable change in my life. - Mentee For me, it hasn t mattered that I m not doing the exact job that my mentee wants to work towards, Mentoring is about soft skills and often mentees want to progress but might not know the specifics. As a mentor, you learn to recognise the mentee s passion and to enable those honest conversations. It s not just about imparting knowledge. - Mentor

  9. Academic and Professional 2023-24 feedback (continued) My experience on the B-Mentor programme has been one of the highlights of my career at UCL; I ve had a very helpful mentor who I ve been able to talk to honestly and without judgement. As an older woman, this has helped me to clarify and come to terms with where I am in terms of my working life and future. I have recommended B-Mentor to other colleagues and I hope the next intake get as much out of it as I have! - Mentee Having the support from my mentor has been really useful to re-assess my priorities and focus on the next steps. I am really grateful to my mentor for always being open to honest conversations and for the valuable guidance. - Mentee B-MEntor has helped my own development and career progression to a more senior role, as I ve been able to refer to my mentoring experience on this scheme when applying for jobs. - Mentor
