  1. ECDP Induction, 9 October 2024 Staff Research Integrity Training Course Elinor Toland Research Integrity Adviser (Training & Communication) Research Governance & Integrity Team, Research Services

Research Integrity Training Course: Background Mandatory for: Research & Teaching Staff including ECDP; PGR Supervisors; Research-related Professional Services, Technicians & Specialist staff Over 2000 staff completed the course in 2023-24 (5 x 2022-23) Key aims: to support university expectations for good research practice and high quality research; to promote a positive Reseach Culture; to provide an opportunity for personal reflection; to raise awareness of ways that we can improve research integrity It offers module options for flexibility e.g. Teaching Research Integrity for LTS staff Course assessment is via submission of a workbook

Research Integrity: UofG Context Research Integrity is one of the five Research Culture Priorities Aligns with the Research Strategy 2025: o "We value the quality of our research over its quantity" o "How research is done is as important as what research is done" The Code of Good Practice in Research is the key policy for researcher staff and students Our Research Integrity website covers a range of themes with training & resources Academic Lead for Good Research Practice in post (Prof Lisa DeBruine) Research Integrity Champions & Advisers for local activities and support

  4. What others have gained from taking the course We receive a lot of feedback about the course! (over 500 comments since June 2023) Mainly positive comments / suggestions for the course Staff appreciate having the chance to reflect on their approach to research integrity and understand the broader issues involved Inspires action e.g. contacting the RDM team; implementing the CRediT contributor statement; discussing RI at regular group meetings

  5. What we gain from the course submissions Engagement with the academic community through the training responses Feedback can be reinvested into the course to enhance content We learn about examples of best practice that we can share Comments from staff (anonymous and with permission) can help to highlight issues and themes e.g. in Committee reports We hear what researchers think about the wider system of academia
