  1. Pre-Advising Survey: What is it and how will it work at K-State? Kathy Lillich and Beth Stuewe 2023 KSU Advising Institute

  2. Introduction Found this idea at the NACADA Region 7 conference this past March Wanted to share with you and get feedback

  3. What is a pre-advising survey Survey sent to student as they are scheduling their mandatory advising appointments (started in Spring 2021) Connected to confirmation page students receive when they make an appointment Specifically used by OU University College (advises all first year students) Allows advisor to assess student needs before the appointment begins Sends an automatic follow-up email to students who indicate a concern with their wellness Average question response helps to identify students who may be at risk for leaving the university

  4. What does the survey ask How confident are you in a major that you have selected (or are considering)? How satisfied are you with your academic performance this semester? How comfortable are you with your financial situation? How connected do you feel at OU? How effective are you at managing your mental and physical wellness alongside your academics? **All questions answered on a Likert scale (Not at all confident, a little confident, somewhat confident, mostly confident, extremely confident)

  5. Discussion #1 What questions should be added or deleted from the questions asked at OU? Remember, this needs to be a quick survey that students can complete so keeping questions at a minimum are helpful.
