In Acts 8:26-40, the eunuch learns about Jesus from Philip, starting with Isaiah 53. The eunuch understands the need for immersion in Christ and embracing true rejoicing. 2. The eunuch was reading from what we recognize as Isaiah 53. Philip asked, Do you understand what you are reading? The eunuch answered, How can I, unless some man guide [teach] me? Therefore, Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. The result: The eunuch learned the TRUTH about Jesus! The eunuch learned he needed to be immersed into Christ. The eunuch learned he needed to confess his belief in Christ BEFORE being immersed. The eunuch learned true rejoicing!

  3. The place of the scripture which read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: in his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? For his life is taken from the earth. Of whom speaketh the prophet of himself or another? See Isaiah 53: 7 8 This is where Philip opened his mouth and preached unto him Jesus. Would Philip have then used the rest of Isaiah 53 to explain? Does not ALL of the text speak of Jesus?

  4. Isaiah 53 1 2 . The prophecy that God would have ALL men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. a. 1 Timothy 2: 1 4 b. Matthew 9: 35 38 7. Matthew 27: 11 14

  5. Isaiah 53 8. Mark 15: 6 15; Mark 14: 22 - 25 9. John 19: 38 42 *** Isaiah s rest of the story . These actions pleased God the Father because of His love for us! (vss. 10 11) Jesus complied with His Father s will because He also loves us! Luke 23: 34

  6. The result of this teaching: Acts 8: 36 38 See water What hinders me from baptism? If you believe with all you heart, you may. I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. They both went into the water, and Philip baptized him.
