  1. Young European Research Universities YERUN General Assembly University of Ulm Ulm 26 October 2017

  2. Working Group 5: Promoting graduate employability and business engagement Billy Kelly, Dean of Teaching & Learning, Dublin City University

  3. YERUN WG on Graduate Employability YERUN members want the network to promote graduate employability and business engagement, and be an advocate for universities delivering high-quality, high-value learning, within the wider setting of Europe s cultural, social and economic needs. In order to achieve this, YERUN members will: Champion the value of research-led education. Seek ways for our students to benefit from a broader and more diverse educational experience, improving levels of competencies and skills and enhanced employability prospects. Encourage student enterprise programmes and internships and placements. Advocate the value of business engagement.

  4. Employability and YERUN Employability will have different emphases in differing institutional and national contexts What should employability mean in the context of a research university? A European university? A young university? Need to develop a shared dimension and focus of employability

  5. Employability and research universities Employability should go beyond technical knowledge focused on gaining employment Goal should be to foster students potentially becoming innovators in respect of the theoretical knowledge which underlies the development of new techniques How do we conceptualise employability in our network of research universities? Develop an agreed meaning/conceptualisation of employability in a YERUN context

  6. Sharing good practice Review survey completed in 2016 to develop a template to allow us to identify: Examples of good practice in our institutions that we would like to share with others in the network Identify areas of good practice that have proved challenging to scale/implement in our institution

  7. Identifying good practice Are there shared practices we might want to develop? What models of teaching and learning can best stimulate research/ innovation/entrepreneurship in our students?
