Characteristics of Life Lab What is living?
Notebook Learning objective Bell Work answered (most days) Dated before notes Unit Title and Lesson Title (highlighting is good)
Lab Groups Work as a TEAM Include everyone in discussion Nominate: One reporter One cleaner One recorder One runner One question master (if necessary)
Lab Manual Found at each lab station Brainstorm with your group Fill in blanks about lab safety Use pencil (could be wrong) Use knowledge from past science classes Reporter will report findings
Todays Lab Twelve different objects Determine if it is living, once living, nonliving Write an evidence-based claim
Organisms are considered living if: 1. Made of cells 2. Respond to stimuli- adapt to environment 3. Produce offspring 4. Metabolize- convert fuel for energy 5. Pass on genes- heredity 6. Homeostasis- maintain internal temp. 7. Evolve- change over time
