  3. Vision Statement Our VISION is to educate ALL Students to the highest levels of academic achievement and to practice the core values of the school: Safety, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect. We also desire to have strong families from all cultural backgrounds through parent support/ fellowship and skill training.

  4. Mission Statement Our Mission at Galena School is to build a community of learners that excel academically, technologically, socially and emotionally.

  5. Elementary and Secondary School Act Each school receiving Title I Part A funds, is required to convene an annual meeting. E.S.E.A The purpose of this meeting is to inform parents and families of their school s participation in the Title I Part A program and the right of the parents to be involved.

  6. Parent Right to Know Galena School is a Title I school, meaning that we receive funds from the government to support our school. The money we receive is based off of the number of free/reduced lunch Applications. The money is intended to increase student achievement These funds do come with requirements. You have the right, as parents and guardians, to be involved and ask questions and this Right to Know can be found on Marshall County School s website in the parent student handbook.

  7. Parent Right to Know Each year a copy of your school s NCLB report card is posted on the school s website and the districts report card is posted on the district website. The information on the report cards will help you gain a better understanding of the academic successes at your school site. Mississippi and Federal Accountability results for your school will be clearly stated on the report card. Further, the percentage of teachers at your school site that are considered highly effective according to Mississippi and USDE licensing criteria is included. If you have any questions about the specific qualifications of teachers at your school site, please contact your school s principal or the Superintendent s Office at 662- 252-4271. In accordance with federal law, the Marshall County School District wants to inform parents of their right to know the following: (a) that their child s teacher has met the Mississippi qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject area in which they are currently teaching, (b) whether their child s teacher is teaching under a provisional, one-year or emergency license, (c) that all teaching credentials of all teachers instructing the parent s child are available for review and (d) whether their child being instructed by a paraprofessional. Please note that the MCSD will inform parents within a timely manner if your child has been assigned to, or has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is considered not highly effective. Parents will be informed by written correspondence (at minimum).

  8. What is Title 1? The federal government provides additional tax dollars to schools with higher percentages of students from poverty to balance the playing field compared to schools with a higher local tax base.

  9. Purpose of Title 1 Funds To help every child receive a high-quality education and to achieve the high academic standards set by the State of Mississippi.

  10. How do we spend Title 1 Funds Identifying students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help students meet the State s challenging content standards. Purchasing many supplemental student and teacher materials and Supplies Conducting parental Involvement meetings/trainings/activities Technology teacher and student devices, promethean boards Being a Title I school also means encouraging parental involvement and advocating for parents rights

  12. School- Parent Compact The School-Parent Compact is a jointly developed document that explains the responsibilities of the school and parents in supporting your child s learning. The School-Parent Compact is available on Mary Reid Elementary School s website in the Title I folder.

  13. HOW DO WE WORK TOGETHER School Wide Plan School - Parent Compact Parental Engagement Plan

  14. FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PLAN The Parent and Family Engagement Plan is developed with parents. It describes how MR will carry out required parental engagement activities. This plan will be updated after receiving feedback from parents.

  15. School Wide Plan A plan to ensure that all students, particularly those who are low- achieving, demonstrate proficient and advanced levels of achievement on state assessments. Each year, we write a school wide plan which entails the details of how we intend to use Title I funds. This plan then gets approved by the state.

  16. Survey Dear Parent/Guardian, As partners in your child s education, your input is valued. Please take a few minutes to: 1) fill out the brief parent survey 2) read and sign the Parent Student Compact. This information will be used to help evaluate and strengthen parent and family engagement within our school.
