The Real World Today our kids need Dads who are engaged more than ever. Day after day we see it on the news Kids who are more violent than ever and I ask the same question: Where are their dads? The answer to that is not one any of us like to hear.. They are not at the ball fields or the recitals or the PTA meetings or at church or teaching Sunday School Sad but true The truth is children act the way they do because they do not have fathers to teach them. How is a boy suppose to act? Even Girls today do not know how to have a healthy relationship with boys because they have no real Godly male role model in their homes. Stop looking around for someone to blame. Look at your relationship with your children and do something about it today. In the lesson today we will look at ways to become the dad your children need.
The Real Word EPHESIANS 6:4 Fathers, do not Exasperate your children; Instead, Bring them up in the Training And Instruction of the Lord.
Real Talk What would happen if dads began spending time with their children? What stops you from being involved with your children? Did your dad take time to be with you?
Real Steps So what can we do as Dads to BE there for our kids ? LIVE OUT YOUR BELIEFS - Not something just for church. You must live for Christ at home and everywhere. Your children are watching and learning from you. Good and Bad. Pass on a love for God above all other loves. Take them to church. PARENTING IS PARTNERSHIP - It takes two. You love your wife first and your children will see that and respond in kind. Love your wife. Start to model Christ is all you do. THE HEART OF THE MATTER - Your heart Luke 6:45 Matt. 22: 37-39 You must be following the Lord before you can instruct your children. You cannot take them places you have not been. Spend time with your kids.
Time to Close TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR CHILDRAISING I. Teach them using God s Word (Duet. 6:4-9) II. Tell them what s right and wrong (1 Kings1:6) III. See them as gifts from God (Psalm 127:3) IV. Guide them in Godly Ways (Proverbs 22:6) V. Discipline them Proverbs 29:17 VI. Love them Unconditionally (Luke 15: 11-32) VII. Do not Provoke them to wrath (Eph. 6:4) VIII. Earn their respect (1 Timothy 3:4) IX. Provide for their physical needs (1Timothy 5:8) X. Pass your faith along to them (2 Timothy 1:5)
