Mandatory Fees BOR Policy 940.12.1 Tuition and fee approval Definition: Mandatory Fee as: [those] assessed to all students registering at the campuses, regardless of the academic program or course of study chosen by the student . Establishes approval process to take place once every two years BOR Policy 940.3 Mandatory Fees Identifies the mandatory fee categories Identifies additional actions for specific fees: Building and Facility Fee requires student opinion survey for construction over $200,000 Computer Fee requires a computer fee advisory committee made up of at least 50% students, and requires 10% of fee collections to be reserved for MUS-wide projects Equipment Fee requires an equipment fee advisory committee made up of at least 50% students Student Government/Activity Fee requires that these funds be allocated only by student government officials pursuant to the student government constitution.

(4) UC Fees Include: Operation($14.57CR), Renovation($4.30/CR) (5) Health Service Fee (Regents' Item No. 175-1009-R0517): *Students enrolled in 6 credits or less have the option to pay the full Health Service Fee of $271.59 in order to obtain access to services provided by Curry Health Center. The $23 fee covers only the cost of campus health programs which is mandatory for all students. An additional $48 per credit is assessed for on-line courses and $24 per credit for blended courses. Mandatory health insurance coverage, with right of waiver, is required for all students.

Registration Fee Covers the costs associated with registering a student. $30 Facilities Fees Comprised of: Academic Facilities Fee ($3.58/credit) - used to remodel and renovate classrooms and laboratories in instructional facilities Building Fee ($4.34/credit resident, plus additional $3/credit nonresident) - supports the repayment that financed the construction and/or remodeling of buildings, as well as operations and maintenance. $7.92 per credit, plus additional $3/credit nonresident Facilities Fees Revenue $2,260,201 $2,056,598 FY14 FY18

  6. Equipment Fee $2.02/credit Supports the purchase, maintenance, or lease of equipment which will provide a primary benefit to an educational program including libraries, and other related capital acquisitions. Equipment Fee Revenue $602,369 $476,268 FY14 FY18

Technology Fees Comprised of: Computer Fee ($3.53/credit) - supports campus-wide technology infrastructure, including computer equipment, software, and maintenance, as well as computer networks and related infrastructure/systems. Technology Fee ($4.50/credit) - supports the University technology infrastructure that includes acquisition, renewal, licensing, maintenance, and operations of the campus technology core and distributed systems, building level hub, switching, and wiring. $8.03/credit Technology Fees Revenue $2,059,378 $1,869,845 FY14 FY18

ASUM Fees $73 flat for over 6 credits, Activity Fee optional for 1-6 credits Comprised of: Kaimin Fee ($6) supports the publishing of the campus student newspaper Recycling Fee ($6) supports the student recycling program on campus Radio Fee ($7) supports the student radio station on the University campus Activity Fee ($54) supports the operations of the Associated Students of the University of Montana and its committees to enhance student campus life. This fee entitles students to use ASUM services (legal services, day care, tutoring services, etc.) and receive reduced rates to programming events. ASUM Fees Revenue $1,333,105 $1,273,946 FY14 FY18

  9. Campus Recreation Fee Allows student access to campus recreation facilities and supports other recreational activities offered on campus, including intramural sports. Funds may be used to operate and maintain recreational facilities. $117 for 7 or more credits; optional for 1-6 credits Campus Recreation Fee Revenue $2,230,104 $1,970,347 FY14 FY18

  11. Health Service Fee Supports the Curry Health Center and provides students with medical, dental, counseling and health enhancement services. Students enrolled for six or fewer credits may receive services on a fee-for-service basis (in some departments) or may choose to pay the full health service fee to obtain full time student benefits. $23 for 1-6 credits, $271.59 for 7 credits and up Health Service Fee Revenue $5,499,540 $4,961,584 FY14 FY18

  12. Athletic Fee $35.50 for 1-6 credits, $71 for 7 credits and up Supports intercollegiate athletic programs and allows students to be admitted to campus athletic events to the extent deemed practical by the campus administration. Athletic Fee Revenue $1,493,206 $1,188,712 FY14 FY18

  13. Transportation Fee Supports and promotes transportation options for the University community. Revenue from this fee assists with costs associated with alternative transportation needs for faculty, students, and staff that include park and ride, shuttle bus, off campus parking, etc. $19 for 1-6 credits, $38 for 7 credits and up Transportation Fee Revenue $868,253 $769,513 FY14 FY18
