  1. Junior and Cadet First Aid Skills Program Introducing a new and improved first aid skills program for Cadet and Junior members in St John Ambulance Australia

  2. A New Program A new Junior and Cadet First Aid Skills Program has been developed to simplify the delivery of first aid skills training to Cadet and Junior members and to reduce the complexity of running cadet divisions.

  3. What does the new program replace? This program replaces: Preliminary First Aid and Family Care workbook Preliminary First Aid Re-accreditation Workbooks Junior Skills (Grades 3, 2 and 1) Workbooks. This means that number of first aid (clinical) programs that Cadet Officers/Leaders/Managers are required to oversee is significantly reduced.

  4. Topics Each year there will be a new Junior First Aid book and a Cadet First Aid book, which covers the first aid skills to be learnt in that year. This will consist of a set of core topics and secondary topics. Note: Note: Handout refers to the list of core and secondary topics.

  5. Family Care Proficiency Course The Family Care component of the Cadet First Aid book will no longer be used. This material is now included in the Family Care Proficiency course available on the member connect website.

  6. Cadet clinical accreditation matrix Below is a cadet clinical accreditation matrix which covers training level attained and uniform that can be worn by members. Level When level is gained Uniform Preliminary First Aider* When 5 specific topics have been completed in Cadet First Aid. Epaulettes are not worn, can go to events. Cadet First Aider * 1 year of Cadet first aid program is completed Cadet issued with black epaulettes First Aider Apply First Aid Accreditation is completed Cadet issued with blue epaulettes First Responder FR Accreditation is completed S/T will decide the best method to identify a cadet who has complete FR accreditation *No reaccreditation for PFA or CFA, next book is completed.
