Purpose To mediate the amendments of the trimmed and re-organised 2020 Annual Teaching Plan including School Based Assessment for Music, Grade 12 for implementation in June 2020 as stipulated in Circular S2 of 2020. To ensure that meaningful teaching proceeds during the remaining teaching time as per the revised school calendar. To assist teachers with guided pacing and sequencing of curriculum content and assessment.

  4. 1. Purpose (continued) To enable teachers to cover the essential core content /skills in each grade within the available time. To assist teachers with planning for the different forms of assessment. To ensure learners are adequately prepared for the subsequent year/s in terms of content, skills, knowledge, attitudes and values

Summary: Amendments to the Content Overview for the Phase Topic 1 Practical Topic 2: Theory of music Topic 3 Technical: choose scales for learners instead of examiners = 20 marks Repertoire: Pieces reduced from 4 to 3 with 35 marks each = 105 Only solo pieces The ensemble removed. Sight reading: reduced to 10 Teachers to No changes made except for Mid-year exam: No changes made except for Mid-year exam: Only a test to be written Only a test to be written: Theory=40 GMK=40 Comprehension= 20 Theory=40 GMK=40 Comprehension= 20 piece is marks Learners will not yet be ready to do Examination/Test a practical Aural: stays the same= 15 Marks

Summary: Reorganisation of content topics All topics in topic 1 included and revision of content covered in term 1 considered Topics spread over several weeks to ensure that they are covered adequately. Topic 1: Practical- content reduced. Topic 2: Theory-No changes made Topic 3: GMK- Changes made in the Jazz stream Reorganisation shown in slide 10/11
