About our Trust Our Trust is the only NHS organisation in the country that provides Acute (hospital based), ambulance, community, and mental health and learning disabilities services. We work closely with our Island and mainland partners to enable us, where possible, to deliver our services locally and in a sustainable manner. We are a major employer with more than 3,700 substantive staff supporting a population of over 140,000, that increases significantly in the summer months. Demonstrating our effective Partnership Working The objective of our quality improvement initiative was to co-design in partnership with Trade Unions, Clinical, Operational and Corporate teams our Trust s flexible working action plan. August 2021 September 2021 October 2021 March 2022 April 2022 and beyond July 2021 Joined NHSE/ Timewise Flex for the Future Programme Action Plan FY22/23 delivered Launched #Yourvoice staff engagement in relation to Flexible Working Completed Flex programme and developed Trust Action Plan Executive Team endorsement for our quality improvement plan initiative Established Flexible Working Steering Group FY23/24 developed with steering group Diagnostic Results shared
What we achieved Improvement and above national average in staff being able to speak to their line manager about flexible working opportunities in Acute (69.4%), Ambulance (71.3%), Community (76.8%) Ambulance rated as BEST in staff being able to speak to their line manager about flexible working Improvement and above national average for level s of satisfaction for flexible working opportunities; Ambulance (48.8%), Community (67.4%) and Mental Health & Learning Disabilities (70%) Maintained level of satisfaction for flexible working opportunities in Acute at 55% Ambulance rated as BEST in level of satisfaction for flexible working opportunities Mental Health & Learning Disabilities We work flexibly domain joint BEST performing Trust in South East and above National Average
What we have learnt Staff Experience Rich data and information gained from #YourVoice events and online survey Partnership Working Positive engagement and full involvement with our Staff Side Lead Data analysed by staff group to help focus specific actions Co-design of action plan Resources from the national programme supported the development of our action plan Stakeholder Participation Steering group membership across all professional groups included champions for flex but others with hesitation We worked with steering group members to co- design action plan and priorities One step at a time At times can feel overwhelmed keep focusing on priorities, quick wins, areas of biggest gain Sharing and learning from best practice Sharing and learning from others via NHS Futures Platform.
