Short background on Statistics Iceland Formed in 1914 Responsible for official statistics in Iceland As well as coordination of the official statistical system Part of the European Statistical system Eurostat is an important partner Close cooperation with the other Nordic countries Collects, processes, analyses and disseminates official statistics Economics, businesses, families, individuals, households, municipalities, etc.

Geographic location and high value datasets(1) Project within Statistics Iceland Funded with a grant from Eurostat 3 work packages Main goals: WP1) Develop the Geosocial view through collaboration with UI-SENS and NLSI Create a knowledge network Organize and hold seminars WP2) Develop and implement a generic process for linking statistical data with GIS data for Iceland Harmonize dissemination of geo-referenced statistical data via Statistics Iceland s website WP3) Support data collection for SDG indicators that lack geospatial data Improve data dissemination by mapping SDG data on geographical areas

Geographic location and high value datasets(3) Seminar on November 27th, 2024 (will be promoted soon): The Icelandic data ecosystem HVD Presentation of the first version of the data strategy of the Icelandic government Presentations from stakeholders in the Icelandic data ecosystem Hackathon To coincide with the seminar Focus on using HVD to solve real-world problems Computer science students are encouraged to participate!
