Process 1. Any certificated staff member can submit new course proposals. 2. The proposals are reviewed and discussed through a variety of lenses District priorities Complement to current curriculum Costs Impact on existing courses 3. Reviewed and approved by secondary principals and members of the District administrative team. 4. Board of Education
Three New High School Course Proposals 1. XR for Social Good 2. Data Science 3. My Story, Her Story, Hxrstory: Interdisciplinary Ethnic Studies with an Emphasis on Media Literacy and the California Perspective
XR for Social Good Year-long elective course offered at Dougherty Valley High School. College prep, not weighted. XR = Extended Reality Hands-on, experiential course where students will develop and design virtual and augmented reality applications to solve local problems in the community.
Introduction to Data Science Year-long math elective offered at one of our high schools. College prep, not weighted. Introduces students to opportunities available at the intersection of data analysis, computing, and mathematics through hands-on activities.
My Story, Her Story, Hxrstory: Interdisciplinary Ethnic Studies with an Emphasis on Media Literacy and the California Perspective Year-long Social Science elective offered at all high schools. College-prep, not weighted. Prepares students to examine the complexities of power, privilege, and agency in history and modern-day socio-political systems through the lenses of race, ethnicity, gender, class, ability and religion.
