Integrated Resource Planning Kentucky Power files an Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) with the Public Service Commission triennially. Kentucky Power s next IRP will be filed in December 2019. Planned Retirements Kentucky Power does not currently plan to retire any of its owned generation in the next 5-10 years. Planned Capacity Additions The Company does not currently have plans to add fossil fuel generation. Retirements In accordance with the Commission s finding that doing so was the least cost option for Kentucky Power customers, in 2015 Kentucky Power retired one of its two Big Sandy coal units. The other unit was converted to natural gas and continues to provides energy to customers throughout eastern Kentucky.

Energy Assistance Programs Kentucky Power contributes approximately $480,000 annually for low-income energy assistance. That amount is matched with contributions from customers, for a total of nearly $1,000,000 annually. Kentucky Power is working with Community Action Kentucky to revise its Heating Energy Assistance Program to help even more customers. Kentucky Power offers two different types of budget billing to help customers manage their energy bills. There are currently approximately 25,000 customers enrolled in one of the two programs.
Economic Impact Kentucky Power is aggressively pursuing economic development opportunities for Eastern Kentucky through strategic partnerships and investments.
