Hello, my name is Sara Cavero. I am the School Counselor at Innovations Academy. Scavero@fcusd.org (916) 294-9105
Meet the School Counselor A few things about me: I enjoy helping people and believe all students can thrive in school and life when given the proper support. I am so lucky to get to work with amazing, resilient, driven, and talented youth every single day! I am an alumnus of San Francisco State University and St. Mary s College with degrees in Psychology and Educational Counseling. I love to travel, swim in the ocean, watch soccer, spend time with my husband, twin boys, and English Pointer Abby!
School Counseling Services Consultation, Collaboration, and Referrals: Working together helps ensure students receive the best support (Ex: Student Success Meetings, Student/Teacher Meetings, Senior Conferences, Parent Conferences). Small Groups: Provide extra support for students who may be having challenges in a specific area. Written parent permission may be required. School-Wide Group Activities (Ex: Space Cave, Lunch Bunch, Wonderfest, Kindness Day).
Services Continued Academic School Counseling: Monitor grades/progress, course planning, post-high school exploration/planning, summer school planning/credit recovery, assist with job/volunteer opportunities. High School Credits End of 9thgrade 55-60 Credits End of 10thgrade 110-115 Credits End of 11thgrade 160 Credits End of 12thgrade 220 Credits Students who do not meet their credit requirement by the end of a school-year will need to attend summer school for credit recovery.
How do I see the School Counselor? You can complete this form if you are a 6-12th grade student. If you are a parent or guardian, you can complete this form. You can also tell a teacher that you want to talk to the School Counselor. If you are in need of mental health support you can request support or email our Mental Health Counselor Jeff Steer Jsteer@fcusd.org My office is located on-campus in the main building. You are welcome to drop-in to see me but it is best to make an appointment ahead of time.
