One week before school starts: Parents will turn in: ABC Forms Student Verification form (will be mailed to you) Students will receive: Schedule Books PE Clothes Infinite Campus Access Binder Reminder Students will attend WEB Orientation
What your student should bring to school: LOTS of Pencils, lead, sharpener Pens Colored Pencils/Markers Calculator- check with math teacher about what type Paper- three holes-college bound, graph paper for math Binder with dividers Spiral Notebooks Ruler Healthy Snacks Lunch or Lunch Money
Daily Schedule -Homeroom (At the beginning or end of the day) -Core: Language Arts Social Studies -Math -Science -PE -Elective
How to support your student academically - Check Infinite Campus daily - Email teachers - Communicate with the academic counselor - Check your student s backpack and binder reminder DON T take your student s word all the time!
Activities - Activities are offered at each middle school - Some examples include: - Sports - Assemblies - Dances - Career Day - Field Trips (for classes or schoolwide)
Clubs - Encourage your student to join many different clubs - Current Clubs: Stats squad, Board Game, Youth Act, Pokemon, Book, Smash, and more...
Dress Code Pajamas are not allowed at school, unless an approved spirit day. Shoes appropriate for school activities must be worn at all times. Closed toe and closed back are to be worn at all times. No slippers, house shoes or shoes with high heels are allowed. Students must have proper shoes for PE (Crocs, Toms, Uggs and ballet flats are not proper shoes) and students will earn a non-dress for the day if proper footwear is not worn. Non-dress days may adversely affect students grades. Undergarments should be concealed at all times. No see through fabrics. Sleeveless tops must have a 2 wide strap over the shoulder. Students must be covered from the neckline to the knee. No RED clothing or accessories (including shoes, shoelaces, bandanas, backpacks, etc.) Facial piercings or piercings that pose a safety risk of any kind are NOT recommended.
Dress Code Continued Dress, accessories and jewelry which contain obscene symbols, signs or slogans, and/or which slur or degrade on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, sex, disability or sexual orientation, contain language or symbols supporting sex, drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, and impose a threat of imminent violence or disruption to the orderly operation of the school shall not be worn. Only Piedmont Middle School hats are allowed on campus. No hats, hoods, or beanies may be worn INDOORS for both boys and girls. Students faces must be fully visible at all times. Masks are not allowed. The principal, staff, students and parents/guardian at each school may establish reasonable dress and grooming regulations for times when students are engaged in co-curricular or other special school activities including Spirit Weeks. Students appearing on school grounds in violation of the dress code will be counseled and given alternative clothes to wear or, as appropriate, sent home to change clothing or parents may deliver a change of clothing to the site. No holes above the knees for jeans.
Cell Phones: Students are not allowed to use cell phones during school hours. 1st offense: Student has phone taken away and it is picked up by student after school 2nd offense: Student has phone taken away and it is picked up by parent after school.
Discipline - All student handbooks are located in your student s binder reminder. - Students will be added to the Restriction list if: - They have any D s or F s - They have poor attendance/tardies - They have poor behavior
Restriction List - If a student is on the restriction list they cannot participate in school activities. - The restriction list is updated quarterly. - Once a student gets on the restriction list they still have time to get off of the list if their grades, attendance, and/or behavior improves.
Unsupervised Time Before and After School Before School: - - Students drop-off starts at 7:40 Please make sure to get your students to school before the first bell at 7:52. After School: - It is very important that you make a plan with your student for after school. Set a curfew for student to be home. Piedmont students like to go to the Noble Library and 7/11 after school. These locations are considered hang out places for our students. - -
After School Programs After school there are different programs offered for students to attend that are supervised: - Homework clubs - The ROCK program - Sports - Etc.
