  5. Comments on Case Studies & Technologies Case Studies and Technologies Notes Maine heat pump experience and insights Maine is useful to consider when reviewing impacts of supply chain on mass adoption. What lessons are we trying to learn from Maine though? MyHeat (remote IR drones) Don't need remove drones for IR imaging, if we focused on making the data of our state's building stock more widely available to third-party contractors. Even if utilities fund the imaging drones, the data isn't available other than for marketing purposes and becomes siloed money spent. We need more focus on how this EEB money is spent so that a broader audience can access and act. Sizing and selecting heat pumps Sizing of heat pumps should be part of NYSERDA-related evaluations for heating sizing, not just cooling and part of the training noted above. E4theFuture New England Whole House Heat Pump Study E4Future studies/VTZero program needs to be clear about issues with scaling, not focus on energy savings. We have lots of examples of deep retrofits savings 50-80% energy, but not of projects that surpassed the pitfalls of scaling (see Voltage Effect - John List). EnergySTAR upgrade seems only for new construction and gut rehabs, which is much less than 80% of the EEB market involvement. We should focus on existing buildings. ENERGY STAR Home Upgrade 5

  6. General Comments Again, unsure what each topic entails in detail so I didn't say modify. They all look interesting to learn about in general. Unsure if they will be relevant to our programs - depends on budgets and new policy goals, etc. I would suggest taking a look at the GeoGrid shared thermal loop GSHP proposal from the MA group HEET. 6
