  2. Management & Leadership in Nursing Everyone manages. We manages our finances, time, careers, and relationships. We tend not to think of these activities as ((managing)). Therefore, you must learn how to manage all activities of your life and lead your self before leading others.

  3. Management & Leadership in Nursing Really nurses work with extraordinary variety of people: physician, respiratory therapist, physical therapist, social workers, psychologists, technicians, aiders, unit managers, housekeepers, clients & clients families.

Management & Leadership in Nursing The & & leadership To learn how to work well, or effectively, with other people, Demonstrate comprehensive application of critical thinking, Apply leadership concepts, skills, and decision making in the provision of high quality nursing care. The reasons leadership are reasons why why nursing are: nursing students students must must study study management management

  5. Management & Leadership in Nursing Distribution of student into groups, each group organized that each student will act as: (1) Team leader (2) Assistant team leader (3) Team member

  6. Management & Leadership in Nursing Each group consists of one team leader, one assistant and 4-5 team members. Each member responsible for specific duties.

Team leaders Responsibilities I) I) Assessing Assessing: 1) Makes complete survey to the assigned area before the actual work starts in terms of: (a) (a) Survey on patients from reading night shift report to prepare the (kardex). Survey on patients: Through making initial round and (b) (b) Survey on nursing service personnel per shift, qualifications, abilities in order to prepare: Survey on nursing service personnel: Their numbers

(d)Survey hospital and unit policies, rules and regulations Survey hospital and unit policies, rules and regulations 2) Identifies administrative problems related to patient, personnel, environment, and staff.

Team leaders Responsibilities (C0ntinued) 2) 2) Planning Planning 1- Plans for patient care assignment: (Assignment sheet) 2- Supervise the work done by all member of the team through rounds. 3- Coordinate the services of the nursing team with other hospital department. 4-Ensure safe therapeutic environment for patients and personnel.

  10. Team leaders Responsibilities (C0ntinued) 5- Make rounds with physician to inform about patients conditions, and receive new orders. 6- Writes new medical orders in the kardex. 7- Report physicians and head nurses about important observation on patient conditions.

  11. Team leaders Responsibilities (C0ntinued) 3) 3)Evaluation Evaluation 1- Makes rounds to evaluate patients progress, team members performance and checks on patient's records in the patient. 2- Conducts off duty conference 3- Help staff development

  12. Team leaders Responsibilities (C0ntinued) 4) 4) Reporting Reporting Showing the kind and quantity of service rendered over to a specific period. Determining the progress in reaching goals. Aiding in studying health conditions & planning. Interpreting the services to the public and to other interested agencies .

  13. Responsibilities of Team Leader Toward The Instructor 1)Prepare kardex, and update it according to patients conditions. 2)Conduct on-duty conference and prepare that record. 3)Write assignment sheet for all team members in the ward.

  14. Responsibilities of Team Leader Toward The Instructor (Con.) 5)Conduct off-duty conference and prepare that record. 6)Prepare Rota (scheduling) of all nursing personnel for two weeks at least. 7)Develop in-service-education program according to staff needs.

Responsibilities of Assistant Toward The Instructor 1) Prepare medication distribution sheets of each patient individualized to facilitate medication administration. 2) Write medication collection sheet to bring medication from pharmacy. 3) Write head nurses roles in the form of checklist and observe their performance.

  16. Responsibilities of Team Member Toward The Instructor 1) Write team work sheet and distribute among all nursing staff. 2) Write daily shift report for all critical cases. 3) Prepare problem solving sheet for most prominent problem. 4) Make standardized nursing care plan.
