  1. GOOD MORNING PUPILS, I HOPE YOU ARE ALL WELL AND KEEPING YOURSELF SAFE. HERE IS TODAYS POWERPOINT THAT INCLUDES THE LESSONS FOR TODAY, WE ARE GOING TO BE CONTINUING WITH WORK FROM YESTERDAY. YOU WILL NEED YOUR PLAN YOU CREATED FOR YOUR ENGLISH WORK. ALONG WITH THE MATHS TO HELP YOU.

  2. Maths: I can find the whole amount when I am given a fraction. Today we are going to progress in our learning and look at finding the whole amount when we are given a fraction. For example if I know that of an amount is 25 what can I do to work out the total amount.

  3. Vocabulary Fraction A numerical quantity that is not a whole number Numerator The number at the top of a fraction that shows how many parts are being taken from the denominator Denominator The number at the bottom of a fraction which indicates how many equal parts something is divided into

  4. 1 2 1 3 1 4 1 5 What s the same? What s different? What do you know about these?

  5. When dividing, you divide in to equal parts. For example, 1/4 of 560 means we are dividing 560 in to 4 equal parts. 560 1 4 0 4 5 6 0 1

  6. However, sometimes we may be given a fraction of amount where we need to work out the original number. e.g. 3/4 of a number is 51 51 How can we use this information to find the original number?

  7. 17 17 17 17 51 1 7 3 5 1 17 x 4 = 68 so the original number was 68 2 We can divide by the number of parts we have so in this case we have been given 3 so we divide by 3. We then multiply by the number of parts there are all together in this case its 4.

  8. 78 What is the mathematical rule?

  9. Practice: 1) 2/3 of a number is 48. What is the original number? Is there a more efficient method for finding the answer? If so, what is it? Use the bar model method to support you

  10. Practice 2: 1) 3/5 of a number is 90. What is the original number? Why is it important that they are equal parts? Use the bar model method to support you

  11. Practice 3: 1) 2/7 of a number is 46. What is the original number? 2) 3/6 of a number is 60. What is the original number? How else can we solve question 2? Which way is more efficient? Use the bar model method to support you

  12. Variation What mistake is most likely to be made on this question? Use the bar model method to support you

  13. Hot Hotter Super spicy In each of the questions find the whole when given the fraction. In each of the questions find the whole when given the fraction. In each of the questions find the whole when given the fraction. 1/5= 50 2/5= 50 7/8= 350 1/4= 30 3/4= 30 3/4= 1203 1/8= 40 6/8= 48 6/13= 240 2/5= 40 7/11= 77 3/15= 213

  14. If you need extra support use the link below to watch a video on how to do this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouzPe6Vq4ZY

  15. English LI: I can draft a narrative using a video clip as reference. This week for English I would like you to watch the video from the link below. Watch the video again to remind of the story. HTTPS://WWW.LITERACYSHED.COM/THE- ALCHEMISTS-LETTER.HTML

  16. Now using the plan you created yesterday write the beginning of your story. Remember to include grammatical tools that you have learnt. Below are a list of things you may want to try and include. Fronted adverbials Semi-colons to separate main clauses. Prepositions. Descriptive language to add depth. Co-ordinating and sub-ordinating conjunctions Use your story mountain to help you.

  17. Spellings This weeks spellings are focusing on the use of tion, cian, sion and ssion These are your spellings Musician, electrician, invention, station, division, extension, mission and discussion. LOOK AT THE VIDEO BELOW FOR EXTRA INFORMATION. HTTPS://CLASSROOM.THENATIONAL.ACADEMY/LESSONS/TO-INVESTIGATE-SUFFIXES- TION-CIAN-SION-SSION-6XHKJE?ACTIVITY=VIDEO&STEP=1

  18. Todays task is to create a way of remembering the spellings you may want to draw a picture, use the pyramid method etc.

  19. Reading Read the extract on the next slide, your task is to answer the questions then take the information you have read to draw a picture of the character.

  20. MRS.PRATCHETT- BOY ROALD DAHL Her name was Mrs. Pratchett. She was a small skinny old hag with a moustache on her upper lip and a mouth as sour as a green gooseberry. She never smiled. She never welcomed us when we went in. By far the most loathsome thing about Mrs. Pratchett was the filth that clung about her. Her apron was grey and greasy. Her blouse had bits of breakfast all over it, toast crumbs and tea stains and splotches of dried egg yolk. It was her hands , however, that disturbed us most. They were disgusting. They were black with dirt and grime. They looked as though they had been putting lumps of coal on the fire all day long. The mere sight of her grimy right hand with its black fingernails digging an ounce of Chocolate Fudge out of the jar would have caused a starving tramp to go running from the shop. Describe Mrs. Pratchett in 3 words. What does she do for a living? How do you think she would speak or move?

  21. RE Our new RE big question is What kind of king is Jesus? To begin our work on this I want you to re-write the Lord s prayer. Think carefully about what each line means and what it suggests about God.

  22. The following slides show us the meaning of the words used in the lord s prayer. Look through the slides first before having a go at writing your own version.

  23. Our father, who art in Heaven God is like a parent, a mum or dad. He loves us always, and would never let us down. Heaven is where God is, whereas we are here on Earth.

  24. Hallowed be thy name. God is the creator, the one who made everything. He should be given honour and respect.

  25. Thy kingdom come Jesus is praying that God s kingdom, his desire for peace and harmony, will come to all of us. of world that parents would want to bring a new baby into. This part of the prayer is for the kind What do you think that world would be like?

  26. Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven God wants the best for us. We pray to know and do what God wants his will. This shows us what we can do to make the world a better place!

  27. Give us this day our daily bread The Earth that God created contains enough for everyone s needs. This prayer is for God to meet our needs, and the needs of others. What do you think these needs might be?

  28. And forgive us our trespasses These are the wrong things we have done to other people and to Gods creation our sins.

  29. As we forgive those who trespass against us. Those who trespass against us are people who have done something wrong or hurtful to us. It can be very hard to forgive them. Jesus is telling us that we need to pray for God to help us forgive other people, just as he will forgive us if we are truly sorry.

  30. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Life is full of good things for us to explore. God gives us loads of things that we can choose to do. We all know that we can make bad choices sometimes. This part of the prayer is asking God to help us avoid doing things that we know we shouldn t.
