PVSA Annual Chairmans Report 15th January 2025
Sports fields in the local area have either no facilities or are littered with unloved, under-used buildings .. How do we ensure our pavilion NEVER goes this way?
2024 has been a challenge. 2025+ 2022 2019 Great opportunity 2020 2019 2024 Despite the loss of income, we now have a chance moving forward for the site to build on what's been done already and maximise new opportunities Financially Strong Growth in teams With the full leasing of the building, and prior to increasing COL, the PVSA became financially strong Both PCFC and PCCCC have grown over recent years and access to a number of grants have further improved financial stability Overcrowded building Loss of income Opening Covid-19 COVID stopped clubs using the pavilion and the childcare business became used to being the sole occupier. Two key priorities of the parish council:- The growth of the childcare business has caused increased conflict with the sports clubs, the business now moving away will cause financial challenges 1. To not become an unused white elephant 2. To be self sustaining without draining the Parish resources
2024 highlights/lowlights Highlights 1. Maintained strong team and links with sports clubs, council 2. Remain self-funding 3. Both sports clubs have made use of building as have other organisations 4. We now have full use of the building Lowlights 1. Significant loss of income 2. Sharing building with childcare business became very difficult 3. High energy costs
The future is bright There are many reason to be extremely positive about the future of PVSA and what sets us apart from others in the area We have a fantastic team We have great facility that in excellent condition We have two main sports clubs that remain very strong We have an opportunity to remodel the pavilion for the benefit of the sports clubs as a priority We are opening our new pitch in 2025 We can now look to bring new users into the building
Challenges, opportunities and suggested priorities Work closely with the parish council to access grants and find mutually beneficial ways of managing costs Minimise costs, particularly finding a solution to high energy costs Complete the DIY work to bring the pavilion back up to original standard Promote the building to potential users to increase revenue Remodel the pavilion to maximise its use for the sports clubs Continue to work closely with the sports clubs to improve facilities (storage container, football pitch etc.) Work with the Hardwick Road Race to build on its success
Thank you I would like to thanks all members of the committee for the continued time and effort they have put in to making a success of the PVSA over the past year. It is vital that we keep this team string to deliver on our aims The strong relationship we have with the parish council has been vital to the PVSA s success, and will be even more important as we move forward given the recent loss of income. To this end I would like to thank Kath, Mike and the rest of the council for their ongoing support. Mark Watts 15th January 2025
