1. Purpose To mediate the amendments of the trimmed and re-organised 2020 Annual Teaching Plan including School Based Assessment for Civil Technology (Specialisations), Grade 10/11 for implementation in June 2020 as stipulated in Circular S2 of 2020. To ensure that meaningful proceeds during the remaining teaching time as per the revised school calendar. To assist teachers with guided pacing and sequencing of curriculum assessment. teaching content and
1. Purpose (continued) To enable teachers to cover the essential core content /skills in each grade within the available time. To assist teachers with planning for the different forms of assessment. To ensure learners are adequately prepared for the subsequent year/s in terms of content, skills, knowledge, attitudes and values

Summary: Amendments to the Content Overview for the Phase Grade 10 Grade 11 Grade 12 GRAPHICS AS MEANS OF COMMUNICATION (GENERIC/ SPECIFIC ) Introduction to graphics as a means of communication: Types of lines; dimensioning and labelling (Code of Practice SANS). Basic freehand sketching (related to building industry) Make basic drawings by applying various scales: Orthographic projection Isometric views applicable to construction Instruments and instrument drawings Introduction to computer- aided drawings. JOINING (SPECIFIC) Content removed as it is adequately covered in Grade 10 and Grade 12. Soft solder: Explain the process and apparatus Types of solder Properties of solder Soldering irons Tinning a soldering iron Flux (types and purpose) CONTENT REORGANISED TO BE COMPLETED WITHIN THE TIME FRAMES ALLOCATED.

JOINING: (Specific) Properties, uses, precautions and applications of water resistant adhesives for timber Joining (specific) Reorganize: two weeks allocated for the topic. Complete topic in one week. QUANTITIES: (Generic) Content removed as there is not enough time to cover the content. QUANTITIES: Calculate the following: Volume: Length; Square meter.

Remove - Cutting list to manufacture a two panel door with flat panels. NOT enough time to teach all the content. QUANTITIES: Calculation of materials and sundry items for a simple bathroom cabinet with framed door CONTENT REORGANISED TO BE COMPLETED WITHIN THE TIME FRAMES ALLOCATED. CASEMENT: Sketches of vertical and horizontal sections through the following frame members of a casement: Frame head; Frame stile; Sill DOORS: Internal doors: Drawing front elevations, horizontal sections, application and constructional details of the following doors: Hollow core & Solid laminated flush panel door. DOORS: (specific) Remove the content on: - Framed ledge, brace batten doors - Ledge braced batten. - Not enough time to cover all the content. FORMWORK: (Specific) Definition of formwork and striking is removed- Content covered in Grade 12 again.
Summary: Amendments to the Content Overview for the Phase Grade 10 Grade 11 Grade 12 SUSPENDED TIMBER FLOORS: Reorganize: 10 DAYS TO COMPLETE allocated for the topic. Complete topic in EIGTH DAYS NO content trimmed. CONTENT REORGANISED TO BE COMPLETED WITHIN THE TIME FRAMES ALLOCATED.
Summary: Amendments to the Content Overview for the Phase Grade 10 Grade 11 Grade 12 GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION: Remove content on types of lines, dimensioning and labelling, orthographic projection and isometric views applicable to construction, instruments and instrument drawings and CAD. If the above content is removed the duration to complete the content can be reduced to 12 hours. CONTENT REORGANISED TO BE COMPLETED WITHIN THE TIME FRAMES ALLOCATED. Content removed as it is adequately covered in Grade 10 and Grade 12.
