Role of ASHA in Rural Womens Health Development
ASHA Accredited social health activists are Community Health Workers in situated by the Government of India s ministry of health and family welfare as part of the National Rural Health mission (NHRM). The mission began in 2005, full implementation was targeted for -2012 (2017upto increases). Once fully implement, there is to be an ASHA is every village in India. In Maharashtra state ASHA working in 15 Tribal areas and 31 non-tribal districts.
N.R.H.M. (National Rural Health Mission) The Government of India has launched NHRM on 12th April 2005, with objective to provide integrated comprehensive and effective Primary Health care to the under privileged and valuable sections of the society especially Women and children by improving access, availability and quality of public health services.
SELECTION One ASHA per 1000 population. Resident of the village. Married ,Widowed or Divorced women's are prepared. She must have class eight or higher. The age of 25 and 45. Accountable to the Gram Panchayat.
TRAINING Her necessary knowledge and skills. 23 days in 4 round, every year (10+4+4+5 days). Joint monthly meeting are PHC. Care during pregnancy & preventing unwanted pregnancies.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Create awareness on health. Motivating women to give birth in hospital. Bringing children to immunization clinic. Increasing family planning. Keeping demographic records. Improving village sanitation. Improvements for rural women living with HIV/AIDS.
