Science and Pseudoscience
Science is the study of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment, utilizing the scientific method for testing. In contrast, pseudoscience involves beliefs or practices where the scientific method cannot be applied. This distinction is crucial in distinguishing between reliable scientific concepts and unfounded claims. Through examples such as the uneven warming of the Earth by the Sun and the classification of Pluto as a dwarf planet, the boundaries between science and pseudoscience become clearer. While scientific theories can be tested and verified, pseudoscientific ideas lack empirical evidence and rigorous testing criteria. This differentiation is essential for discerning valid knowledge from speculative beliefs.

Science v. Pseudoscience Science study of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment can be tested using the scientific method Pseudoscience- Beliefs or practice where scientific method cannot be applied
The Sun warms the Earth unevenly. I'm 100 percent safe from lightning in my home. My birthday falls under the sign of Aquarius so I am creative & loyal. Snow occurs in temperatures that are 32 degrees F or below. Moses parted the sea with his rod so his people could cross to the other side. Cloud seeding can be used successfully to improve a ski resort's snowfall. The meaning of life can be determined and verified.
Scientists decide that Pluto should be classified as a dwarf planet instead of a planet. It s predicted that the weather on Friday will be a high of 40 degrees F. and rainy. Windows should always be opened before a tornado hits. If you place an inflated balloon at room temperature into a freezer, it will shrink in size. I am definitely going to be rich. It's always sunny in Southern California.
With the person sitting next to you, come up with three theories that meet all the characteristics of science, and 3 theories that science cannot study. Write the theories down on piece of paper.
