SERIT Contribution to Improving Cyber Security in Horizon 2020
SERIT aims to enhance cyber security under Horizon 2020 by prioritizing objectives such as cyber-physical protection systems, crisis management, cloud computing security, and more. Lighthouse projects focus on trans-national cyber-security data sharing and cloud forensics. The roadmap includes projects for short, medium, and long terms to strengthen resilience against cyber threats.

SERIT Contribution to HORIZON 2020 preparation Objective 7.4 Improve Cyber Security
Setting up the scene Horizon 2020: Improved security for systems, networks, access devices, and software and services, including cloud computing, while taking into account the interoperability Prevent, detect and manage in real-time cyber-attacks across multiple domains and jurisdictions, and to protect critical ICT infrastructures New type of research triggered by the emerging applications, usage and societal trends Particular attention to the protection of children, as they are highly vulnerable to the emerging forms of cyber crime and abuse close co-ordination with the ICT strand of the Industrial Leadership pillar Keywords: real-time data processing; fault and intrusion detection and diagnosis; fault and intrusion tolerance
What we Need Since the scope of cyber security is so wide, it is important to identify the objectives which need to be prioritized SERIT has identified the following six objectives: Cyber-physical protection systems Cyber intelligence via information management Design and development of crisis management systems SCADA and Smart Grid Security Cloud Computing Security Mobile Security
Lighthouse Projects SERIT proposes two lighthouse projects, in the form of demo projects, targeting the following objectives: Building a trans-national infrastructure for cyber-security data sharing and analysis The project will build a cross-overlay trans-national cyber-security information exchange network and governance structure, for improving cyber-security decision support and cyber attack response in situations where multiple stakeholders from different countries and/or sectors are affected. Developing techniques and tools for forensics in the cloud The project will deal with evidence collection and forensic investigation of criminal activity, following trails and information that may be stored or processed in the cloud.
Roadmap SERIT proposes the following projects: Short Term: Protection mechanisms against social engineering attacks Funding scheme: IP/STREP) Cyber-security and Resilience of Heterogeneous, Inter- Operating, Critical ICT Infrastructures Funding scheme: IP/STREP Medium/ Long Term: The two lighthouse projects mentioned in the previous slide
