  3. Step 1: Identify and select the Step 1: Identify and select the problem problem Sometimes problems can be emotional and personal but is it very important that one is able to recognise the real problem. The star method is an easy way to remind ones self: STOP THINK REVIEW ACT G14P0345

  4. Once the problem has been identified, one must ask yourself: Do you agree? If not, why not? If you do not agree, it is important that you understand why you do not agree. What aspects is the problem effecting? Write the problem down with a possible goal statement. Writing things down always seems to allow one to get a better understanding of the situation. G14P0345

  5. Step 2: ANALYZE the problem Step 2: ANALYZE the problem Now that the problem has been selected, it needs to be analysed. One needs to get to the real, bottom line of the issue. The cause needs to be found and worked on. Information needs to be collected, whether is research, peoples ideas; your own ideas. One must be able to understand the problem completely. Even read about similar problems. G14P0345

  6. Step 3: GENERATE potential Step 3: GENERATE potential solutions solutions It is now time to start finding a solution. Write as many ideas and solutions as possible! Remember: THERE ARE NO WRONG ANSWERS. Look at previous similar problems and see what solutions were made, this will also help one to get more ideas on your own solutions. G14P0345

  7. Step 4: Select and plan the Step 4: Select and plan the solution solution Now that there are a few possible solutions laid down, one must decide on the most appropriate and applicable solution. Does the solution effect others? Is it to my own advantage? The solution must be able to fit all aspects. A clear plan should be developed along with the decided solution. G14P0345

  8. Step 5: IMPLEMENT the Step 5: IMPLEMENT the solution solution There should now be a problem which has a solution and a plan how it will be solved. The solution to the problem may now be implemented. This may become quite a difficult process as there could be emotional struggles but one must understand that this solution has been well thought out and was the best possible solution to the identified problem. G14P0345

  9. Step 6: EVALUATE the solution Step 6: EVALUATE the solution Once the solution has been implemented, it is important to follow up on the plan. Has the solution worked? Has the problem been solved? Has a new problem arisen? If not, why not? Why did the solution not work? What could be done to make it better? This step needs to be carefully worked on as it is very important that the problem is solved correctly. G14P0345

  10. After this evaluation, one needs to now ACT upon ones findings and the problem should be solved! G14P0345
