  2. Todays Agenda Announcements Collaborate Connectivity Issues Orienting students to Blackboard group discussion Q&A and wrap-up

  3. Mastering the Key Components of Quality Distance Education (aka DE Rubric) DE Rubric training has launched. PA s were sent an email to forward to personnel they wanted to take the asynchronous Blackboard course. Participants who complete the training will receive a certificate that they can screenshot or print for your records. After the session ends, PA s will be sent a full record of all of their completers. Since this is state training, OAE will record the hours in GALIS.

  4. Training: Adding Content to Bb Collaborate Only Classes Each program can send up to 10 people, but only if they have experience accessing Bb and creating/hosting sessions in Collaborate. Make sure you send your Blackboard experts who will need to provide local training and technical assistance. Four sessions are available: Early Bird - Monday, January 11, 8:30-10:00 am Afternoon Group Monday, January 11, 2:00-3:30 pm (FULL) Night Crew Tuesday, January 12, 7:00-8:30 pm Lunch Crowd Wednesday, January 13, 12:00-1:30 pm Registration Link: https://forms.gle/MpqN2uqAEDdzcw136 Today is the last day to register!

  6. Announcement and Registration Links for Online Standards Courses OAE is coordinating registration for two online classes that begin next month. Course 1: NCFL Delivered: Understanding the CCRS (College and Career Readiness Standards) /ELPS (English Language Proficiency Standards) for Adult Educators. Both courses focus on exploring standards-based instruction in terms of navigating the standards, aligning classroom content to NRS Levels, and exploring options for incorporating the standards in lesson design and instructional delivery.   7. Course 2: Standards Series: Exploring Standards-based Instruction and Available Support Resources The Standards face-to-face workshops have been redesigned and will be delivered via Blackboard. The workshops provide a dive deep into the College and Career Ready (CCR) /English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards and then integrate the learnings into practice.   8. New Beginner and Advanced Courses GVTC has updated their Beginner and Advanced asynchronous Blackboard courses. We will announce more details on registering for these courses during our next session (1/21/21).

  10. Collaborate Connectivity Issues - Students Use a hard-wired (Ethernet) connection. Close other programs. Keep your browser current. Disable Ad Blockers (also called Pop-up Blockers). Join the session early. Limit your video use. Mute yourself when not speaking and use headphones. Use the support chatbot.

  11. Collaborate Connectivity Issues - Instructors Follow all of the student advice and Limit application sharing (tabs and screens) Turn presentations into PDFs Allow early arrivers Be selective with participant permissions Share content before the session

  12. Notifying Blackboard about Issues Currently, use Report Issues under the session menu and My Settings.

  13. Notifying Blackboard about Issues Starting January 14, 2021, you can access a support chatbot to get help troubleshooting common issues while still in a session.Chat Support is located under My Settings.

  14. Notifying OAE about persistent issues PA s or a designated SubAdmin should promptly notify their assigned GPSC if the program is experiencing persistent issues that is hindering the program from implementing or using Collaborate.

  15. Group Discussion chat or audio comment Familiarizing students to Blackboard Learn and Blackboard Collaborate is very important. It makes them more confident and more likely to login or join a session. What are some strategies your program has used to familiarize students?

  16. National Blackboard Outage for Updates Blackboard will be unavailable from 2:00-6:00 am EST on January 14, 2021. We will let you know if anything happens to make the update go past 8:00 am.

  17. Its GO Time Sessions in 2021 Sessions will resume on January 7, 2021. Sessions will be every other Thursday from 1:00-2:00 pm. (1/7, 1/21, 2/4, 2/18, 3/4, 3/18) We will reassess need at the end of March. Sessions will continue to be recorded and posted.

  18. Blackboard Helpdesk Tickets Thank you everyone for submitting your request for classes that started this January on time! Starting in January 2021, the OAE helpdesk (oaehelpdesk@tcsg.edu) will begin limiting helpdesk technical assistance requests to emails that come from sub-administrators only. It can take up to 10 business days to complete requests. Send in all requests as soon as possible. That includes: Helpdesk tickets, master class requests, student class requests, etc.
