  2. INTRODUCTION UNFPA Is the international development agency that promotes the right of the every women men and child to enjoy the life of health and equal opportunity. It creates the policies and programmes to reduce the poverty. It ensures that- every pregnancy is wanted every birth is safe and every young is free from the HIV/ AIDS and every girl and women is treated as dignity and respects.

  3. FUNCTION UNFPA is the world's largest multilateral source of funding for population and reproductive health programs. Avoid unwanted pregnancies Undergo safe pregnancy and childbirth Avoid spreading sexually transmitted infections Decrease violence against women Increase the equality of women Encouraging the use of birth control.

  4. AIMS promote an awareness of social and economic implications of population problems and their solutions, extend aid to developing countries. coordinate UN and other organizations' activities to plan and implement population projects. Financial assistance includes equipment, supplies, personnel, fellowships to study abroad, collection of population data, and assistance with population dynamics and policy. By the end of January 1973, UNFPA was supporting almost 600 population projects in 76 developing countries.

HOW UNFPA WORKS UNFPA works in partnership with governments, along with other United Nations agencies, communities, NGOs, foundations and the private sector, to raise awareness and mobilize the support and resources which is needed to achieve rights and health of women and young people. Contributions from governments and the private sector to UNFPA in 2016 totaled $848 million. The amount includes $353 million to the organization's core resources and $495 million for specific programs and initiatives.

  6. FOCUS AREA There are three core area of work Population and developmental strategies Reproductive health Gender equality

  7. REPPRODUCTIVE HEALTH UNFPA assist government in delivering sexual and reproductive health care throughout the life cycle of women. Area of assistance include- Family planning Antenatal safe delivery and postnatal care Prevention and appropriate treatment of infertility Prevention from abortion

  8. Treatment of reproductive tract infections Prevention, treatment and care of STD including AIDS Provide information education and counseling regarding sexual and reproductive health. Prevention of violence against women Appropriate referral for further diagnosis

  9. GENDER EQUALITY AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT Girls education Economic empowerment of women Political participation of women Balancing the reproductive and productive roles. End the gender based violence including traditional practices such as child marriage and female genital mutilation (cutting). It also raise the awareness of women specific strengths and needs.

  10. POPULATION AND DEVELOPMENT UNFPA assist in data collection and analysis regarding the population growth in national region and global policy. Key area are of focus include Migration Ageing Climate changes urbanization

UNFPA IN INDIA UNFPA has been assisting the Government of India since 1974 to provide family planning and health services, advance reproductive health and rights and improve maternal health. focuses on young people s sexual and reproductive health and improving opportunities for vulnerable women and girls. UNFPA also supports research, advocacy and government policies and programmes to advance gender equality and reproductive rights, family planning and population dynamics

  12. Its offices in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Rajasthan UNFPA India works with the government and partners to advocate for adolescents and youth s rights and investments, including education, livelihood skills and health, including sexual and reproductive health
