1. WEST OF IRELAND OFFSHORE RACE SERIES

OBJECTIVES Provide an opportunity for boats based on the west coast of Ireland to participate in coastal and offshore yacht racing Create a series of races recognized by RORC as qualifiers for other events. Round Ireland, Fastnet etc.. Provide opportunity for like minded sailors to meet and socialize after each race. Increase participation of younger sailors in offshore racing

3. RACE 1 FOYNES TO FENIT 52 NM 52 nm, Start HW Foynes Via Kilrush Channel, Hog Island to port Maharees to Port Finish off Fenit pier

4. RACE 2 FENIT TO GALWAY 80 NM Start Fenit Pier 0800 Windward mark starboard Maharees starboard InishMaan starboard Finish off Galway Harbour

5. RACE 3 GALWAY TO FOYNES 85NM Galway Friday evening start Most likely 105 NM sailed with SW wind. (15-18 hours) Time to suit most boats arriving to estuary near LW Carrigaholt BBQ brunch in Foynes Saturday Prize giving Saturday evening in Foynes Yacht Club

6. SAAFETY REQUIREMENTS Boats to meet Offshore Safety Regulations Category 3 https://www.sailing.org/inside-world-sailing/rules-regulations/offshore-special-regulations/ Destination sailing clubs arrange berthing and open club bar for socializing and prize giving

7. RACE CATEGORIES Depending on sufficient number of entrants: IRC Class 1 & 2, & Double handed White sails 1 & 2 No discards

8. PRIZES All boats will receive a welcome pack as part of entrance fee when registering at Race 1. Small prize for 1stand 2ndin each class for each race. Bottle of wine, beers (Minimum 3 boats per class) Prize for series class winners and overall winner. Award for boats with >20% female crew/skipper. Awards for under 25 sailors

9. SOCIAL MEDIA & SUPPORT Build online marketing promotion. Atlantic Downwind sailing footage, Cliffs of Moher, Shannon dolphins, Maharees, Aran Islands, Galway, Limerick City etc.. WIORA website, Afloat, RORC, Instagram, X, YouTube channel, Drone footage of race starts. Post race interviews.

10. ENTRY FEES Entry fee 180 for the series. Earlybird discount 150 or 60 per race. Prizes: Wines, Spirits, and Trophies. Overall winner Champagne and West of Ireland Atlantic Cup
