Collaborative Partnership for Sustainable Solutions in Africa and Europe
Africa and Europe face common challenges that require collaborative efforts in science, technology, and engineering. The Cluster Working Group at KU Leuven aims to enhance research, education, and service to society for a shared future. Through initiatives like Erasmus+ and capacity building projects, partnerships with institutions in Tanzania are also being pursued for mutual growth and development.

Defining mission Why? Africa and Europe face several common challenges that will determine the future of both continents Science, technology and engineering will play a critical role in many of these solutions. to learn from each other, strengthen each other s capacities and take responsibility jointly for this common future What? all means available for collaboration need to be deployed: research, education and service to society
Defining mission How? In the field of research, we will be looking for collaboration on these complex common challenges Beyond project funding, we aim to initiate elements for a more sustainable, long term partnership. In the field of education and training we have an excellent opportunity to learn from one another. Student and staff mobility between Africa and Europe, as well as joint programs and virtual exchanges will be deployed to reach as large a number of students as possible. Erasmus+ Plans for application to Erasmus+ Capacity building in the field of higher education Strand 2 The Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) action supports international cooperation projects based on multilateral partnerships between organisations active in the field of higher education. It supports the relevance, quality, modernisation and responsiveness of higher education in third countries not associated to the Programme for socio-economic recovery, growth and prosperity and reacting to recent trends, in particular economic globalisation, but also the recent decline in human development, fragility, and rising social, economic and environmental inequalities exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
