  1. Plutonium By Xander

  2. Periodic table information about plutonium Element name Plutonium Symbol PU Atomic number 94 Atomic mass 244 atomic mass units Number of protons 94 Number of neutrons 150 Number of electrons 94

  3. What is my Element? The color of my element plutonium is a slivery color sometimes plutonium is yellow and greeny. Melting point the melting point of plutonium is 639.4 C and 1182.92 F Boiling point boiling point of plutonium is 3,232 C and 5849.6 F State at room temp plutonium is a solid when it is at room temperature the state can change due to the temperature Common uses atomic nuclear bombs, radiological weapons (dirty bombs), power supply for artificial heart pacemakers Interesting characteristics Plutonium occurs naturally in the Earth's crust in uranium ores, but it is very rare. Plutonium is a member of the actinide element group, which makes it a type of transition metal. Pure plutonium is a silvery-white metal, although it quickly oxidizes in air to a dull finish. Seaborg chose "Pu" for the symbol as a joke, and it appeared on the periodic table without any questioning.

  4. How was your element discovered? Who discovered it? - Seaborg and McMillan, along with Arthur Wahl and Joseph Kennedy, discovered plutonium in December 1940 at Berkeley, California Origin of the name - Plutonium, is named after the planet Pluto, following from the two previous elements uranium and neptunium. How is it used plutonium is mainly used is satellites like is said in the previous slide above.
